I got this plan for my Mom.

She was on a $55/month, 5gb smart tab plan with Rogers.

First I called Rogers to cancel, the retentions plan they offered weren't any better so we went forward with the cancel however I told the representative that we would be open to do business with Rogers (hinting at a winback here). I don't think this step is required.

Next, we ported out the number to Koodo for Koodo's boxing day deal. It was $50/month and 10gb with a $10 dollar discount for 10 months effectively: $40/month for 10gb. We were going to stick to this deal anyway even if Rogers did not call because its cheaper even without the discount. Fido has the same deal but Fido is owned by Rogers so its important not to go to Fido if you want a winback call.

We received the sim card from Koodo on Thursday and ported over her number. Its important to port over your old number instead of getting a new one otherwise Rogers does not know.

On Monday we received a winback call offering my mom $45/month with 25gb. Rogers is sending us a new sim card as well and the offer is open to add additional lines each with their $45 + 25gb.

I have been thinking about switching over from Koodo as well but my $39/month 10gb is a pretty sweet deal and I barely use the data anyway.

I should also note that while 25gb of data was offered for my Mom. My Mom rarely exceeds 1gb monthly usage because she has always been afraid to exceed the limit (despite me putting limits on her phone). The high data cap might be because she rarely uses her data.

So... finally.. .Rogers called me. I could have used the phone deal...$300 off.... but I ended up buying my phone from Apple outright.

The $300 discount on a new phone would be a monthly fee for the phone. I wouldn't be able to buy it outright.

So I decided to go back to Rogers.... $45/25 GB... not unlimited........

I just want a lower bill..... So they are sending the SIM card....

But it has been at least a month and half waiting for the Winback team.

YMMV

My SIM cards should be arriving tomorrow to port out from Rogers. The end goal is to get that call for the $45/25GB plan.

I did like Telus.... quite a bit.... my deal was $50 / 20GB unlimited with them.....an EPP plan...

but ultimately... the $45/25GB will work just fine with Rogers..

Did you try contact Rogers winback in that 1.5 months. I moved from Rogers to Telus last friday, but set up a contract with Telus, so rogers would need to call me within the first 14 days for me to move back.

You better believe I did. I phoned them daily.... left a message a week for the first month. I even went to @Rogershelps and they went and contacted the winback team for me.

NOPE... nothing.

Month and half later... they finally called.

I pay $54.88 for 8GB, unlimited phone with Rogers right now and my contract is over. My plan is fine, but I'd like a 256GB iPhone 12. Are there any experts here that can recommend the best deal? Should I buy the phone outright to keep my plan or are there other options I should be looking at to bring the cost down? Thanks.

Those of you who got the $45 25GB plan, if you have a 5G phone, can your plan connect to 5G or limited to only LTE?

$45/25gb is none 5G plan. even you have 5G phone only show LTE.
POCO X3 NFC + Public Mobile 100 mins talk & Unlimited text $10 (Auto pay) + Fido data 4GB $0.
2 x Telus Peace of Mind each $40/25GB 5G unlimited.

I'm the ultimate flip flopper. Call me crazy I know.

So.... to recap. I was with Rogers for $50/15GB not unlimited.

Left them to go to Telus for $75/20GB Unlimited data.... on purpose so the winback team would call me.

Got the Winback team and went back to Rogers for $50/20GB not unlimited data.

Left Rogers and went back to Telus for and EPP program of $50/20GB unlimited data...... and I actually was enjoying everything. The service, the app, the 5G speeds....the LTE speeds. I'm in Scarborough.....and then Rogers winback called me.

Left Telus and went back to Rogers for $45/25GB not unlimited data. I figured a lower phone bill would be better and I will never hit 25 GB......

I SHOULD BE HAPPY RIGHT?

Keep in mind, I bought my iPhone 12 Pro Max right from Apple.... and one of the reasons for buying the phone was to be able to use 5G.

With Telus, the phone would switch automatically between 5G and LTE. The speeds were fantastic via the Speed Test app.

So with the Rogers $45/25GB... I noticed.... hmmm... Why is it that I never see my phone flip over to 5G? Is there something wrong with my phone? Why are my speeds never super high? I kept checking my settings wondering if something was wrong with my hardware.

Only to find out..... ROGERS 5G IS ONLY FOR PLANS THAT HAVE UNLIMITED DATA. My talk and text $45/25GB capped data plan does not qualify. My phone would never go on 5G with this plan.

I'm unsure if Telus capped data plans are the same way.

So I flipped back to Telus and luckily they were able to retrieve my EPP plan on my account (it had been less than 90 days since I left) and I was able to port back to them.

Called a Telus store.... they emailed me a new electronic sim... put it in my phone.... and back to super speed phone.

If 5G is important to you... make sure your plan allows you to hop on that band.

Is Rogers still giving the $45 for 25GB winback deal? Is it possible to call in and get it?

Rogers texted me about 5GB of free monthly data but I can't find the offer anywhere in MyRogers

Edit: Shows up now, apparently the website had an error earlier. For some reason my second line gets a 15 GB bonus... Second line barely uses data too wish I had this bonus lol.

$50 promo with 25GB

Pretty easy and was able to do it over chat. Might try again later for the $45

Is this a winback offer? If not, how did you get this deal?

Nope. I kept my number with Rogers and just asked for it via chat.

Called back and they wouldn't budge on the $45/25GB but instead they offered a $100 credit + $45 (activation fee) waived for an iPhone 12 Pro 128GB on a $60/24M term.

What do you guys think?
