Not sure if you need a Rogers account, but you get a phone with a HD screen and decent camera for $100 no term. The Huawei UI is reportedly hideous, but you can flash this phone with Cyanogenmod, for that stock Android experience.

Just as a clarification to the initial post: this phone is a variant of the Honor 5X. It has official support from Lineage OS (the successor to CyanogenMod) so it should be pretty stable and usable as a daily driver after swapping out the OS.

You do need to be a rogers customer. Also the phone has scarce stock in retail locations. I got the phone as a data only phone for the unlimited data $0 dollar fido plan. Fido didn't have stock so I went to Rogers and signed up for the cheapest pay as you go plan. 10 dollars for that and 10 for sim. So the phone actually costs 120 plus taxes in the end. It comes with a screen protector preinstalled. Fido sim worked out of box.

EDIT:

I was definitely aware that you didn't need to be a customer but i even called customer service and they told me the same BS. I didn't know what to think of this so I went with it. I completely understood that the retail workers make commission off of signing up a customer with a phone plan but didn't realize they were so anal on selling a phone without one. Even Rogers CSR was the same way. Good to know I'm never going to Rogers.

I got one for my daughter on Kijiji for 100. Flashed LineageOS but it was still slow... You need to flash custom kernel and then it's usable :)

Daughter likes fingerprint scanner and extended desktop in LinOS.

Which kernel? Any special settings / tweaks? XDA link?

It's for new activations on a plan only otherwise it is $300. I don't know if you can take out a $25 plan then cancel straight away?

It's a no-term, so there is no reason you can't cancel right away.
$100 is a good price for this phone.

click OP link, slide to no tab and try buying. See attached pic. Or am I doing something wrong here? as it will not let you continue without selecting a plan

Ok thanks for the info.

This is what I tried a couple of days ago while chatting with Rogers. They says I couldn't so I guess they were talking bs. But regardless, would you say this or Moto G5?

If you can get a Pay As You Go for $20, it would be much better than sign up the $25 plan and cancel because it require a credit check.
