YMMV on this one, I just switched my cellphone plan to fido from rogers and called to clean up and cancel the rest of the lines on the account (rocket stick and a wireless home phone). The rep ended up offering me $20 a month for the wireless home phone with 100% off for the first 12 months. Might be something they're offering to stop people from jumping ship to Koodo's $5 for 12/months offer.

edit: Just a few more details: The hardware is a one-off $65 purchase (they don't offer financing for it), so I owned from the point I first got the wireless home phone 2 or so years ago. It's a no contract offer so I can cancel whenever. Something of note is I asked if the home phone hub to be unlocked before they came back to me with the offer (at the time I was planning on jumping ship for koodo)

More information required pls. No contract or are you under contract for a term? i.e over 24 months this works out to $10/mth. Can you cancel at any time, etc? TIA

Maybe for home phones. Not always for cellphone plans.

No contract, I can cancel at any time, hardware was a one-off purchase (like with other wireless home phones).

I'm aware of that but my previous offer was only 50% off, the 100% for 12 months seems to be a somewhat new thing.
