I was going to cancel and go to CarryTel.

At first they offered $39.99 for 150 U after I called their customer relations department.

I refused and they sent me to their cancellation department. They offered $45 for 300 U and $49.99 for 500 U.

I know there are better deals to be had but I ended up with the 500 U. It was much better compared to what CarryTel had to offer and I was tired of just being on the phone (45 minutes...gah)
similar situation.
called to get a better deal, after 3 calls of them telling me i have a good deal($15off regular...), asked to cancel, and they didnt offer anything better. So i placed a cancel date for my billing cycle end in 13days. By end of next week, if they dont reach out to offer better, i will sign with Carrytel 150

I've been placed in a very fortunate situation, been offered a good home internet plan with both Bell or Rogers but need to choose which one.

Bell
Gigabit Fibe (1 gbps)
Activation Fee waived (-$60)
Ongoing (no promotion price end date)
$55/month

Rogers
Ignite Internet Gigabit (1 gbps)
Activation Fee waived (-$20)
1 year promotional
$40/month

Which would you recommend I take?
Go with the Bell Fibe..IMO no comparison.. even worth the extra $15, wont be Sorry

Anyone got a $3 increase recently? My 500u original price is more expensive than the 1gbps price on their site, any odds they will dial it back if you call and complain?

Yeah! What the heck.

I have gigabit internet and bill after taxes went up from $88.13 to $91.52

Did the base price go up?

I thought I had a good enough deal that I didn’t call to change the plan....but this is annoying.

I checked my previous bill and the base price went up, the discount stayed the same.

The Rogers customer care rep says that they are increasing each service by $3. So if you have internet and cable, your increase is $6 total. Which really sucks. And my 1 year plan ends in June. Called customer care, and they said the best they can do is $142. $25 more than what I am paying now and does not include the rental of the nextbox PVR.

What # did you dial, and what are the first 3 characters of your postal code?

Thanks

In laws are with Canntel (CIK) and the speeds are way too inconsistent during peak times (5pm-100pm) due to congestion.

Through basic chat I was offered:

500u $64.99
150u for 49.99
75u for 39.99

I started by being an interested customer. I worked up to asking for the 150u for $39. Maybe next time I should be clear I browse RFD and what offer I am after.

What you don't know is; within the written offers is fine print so they can change the rate at ANYTIME. What will happen is within the next 10-13 months you will completely out of the blue get a monster bill for something like $110.00 + taxes. When you call in to challenge them, they will patiently explain that the original promotion has now expired and you are now on regular rates....which is $110+taxes. If you persist and/or escalate, they will "look to see if there are any other current offers they can apply" and they will find something for $85 or maybe even $70. In the end however, you will always end up paying more for your internet than the great rate you thought you had secured. Next year, the same thing will happen and so it goes on. So you say "to hell with you guys" and you move to Bell and guess what ? They do exactly the same thing. The CRTC is always after them for this very issue and as of yet, cannot seem to reign them in.

I have gone around this cycle with both of them many many time until I finally had had enough. I'm currently with Teksavvy and pay their website published rates without signing any useless "contracts". I must admit I don't miss having the annual bun fights with these clowns.
