[Walmart] Roku Streaming Stick $13.27 Extreme YMMV

http://www.walmart.ca/en/ip/roku-stream ... 0182620740

I just made a random followup call a couple of days ago asking where my roku streaming stick was from the November Roku Streaming Stick Fiasco (I made two separate orders). Walmart rep told me that the orders got cancelled. However, when I was browsing the mobile site, only the first order got cancelled and the other one said order in progress. I told the rep that they should honor the price as it's been two months, the have it in stock, and one of my orders still says order in progress. After a couple minutes of bitching, the rep told me to buy it at regular price and then refunded the difference. I don't know how likely it is for other people to get the deal and it's extreme YMMV. I just wanted to let people know if they wanted to try.

I don't think it's worth the effort to bitch in order to save a bit for a product you don't necessarily need. I'll save that once I'm desperate!

Wow I just remembered that I never got my $10 gift card.
Thanks for the reminder.

I know a lot of people received their $10 gift cards in the mail, but mine never came. My order was cancelled and they said that they would give me the gift card as an apology. However, the gift card never came and when I asked them about it, this was the response I received:

"You will receive 10% off a re-order for this product at full price. When this item was placed on sale it was advertised at the wrong price, that's why it was cancelled. There will be no $10 gift cards sent out. Please accept our apology for the inconvenience."

Unhappy with the answer, I emailed them back and I received a message that they would reply "as soon as possible". But alas, no reply a month later. Not too happy that they went back on their word. It'd be better if they treated everyone the same way or didn't offer it at all if they had no intention of seeing it through.

I lost so much respect for Walmart from the screw up on their end....if it was just a 5 dollar difference, it wouldn't be so bad but the fact that the price error was close to a "sale" of 50-60 dollars, that's a major misfire and something that can't be fixed by a 10 dollar gift card. I feel like they should've gone the extra mile to honour that price, considering how much they screwed up the situation

man...this thing is back? talk about beating a dead horse. it was a price error. they could've chosen to do nothing. i've seen price errors corrected at the store level or even acknowledging it on the site. if you got the price match for the stick, good for you. now if you were lucky and got the 10 gift card they "promised", well you know what? that's $10 you didn't have before this.and if you didn't get anything out of it? you're probably part of the majority of us who didn't benefit from this and moved on with our lives...patiently waiting for the next price error. lol

1. Walmart cares what you think
2. They gave you a $10 GC (free money) to say they're sorry
3. Nothing says they have to Honor a pricing error

Some ppl are just never happy no matter what.

I have no problems with how Walmart dealt with this. It seems consistent with the scanner code of practice in store where you can get it for free or $10 discount. In this case though, they probably had 1500 orders and at $10 gift cards would be a $15K mistake that they stood by.

If I'm thinking about Bay, Lowes or Futureshop I've had orders cancelled without even emailing me and no apology when I call in.

The ones who called recently to get the status update on their orders (still showing "order in progress"), what response did you get from Walmart?

Here is what I was told. " Since you did not pass through our financial review, hence your order was canceled".
Really? So it was not about the error on their part, rather my financial standing? This is when I have placed and received few larger orders right after this fiasco. This is when I did received a $10 GC in the mail for the cancellation.
I am not complaining here for they not fulfilling my order which was held as a price error, specially when they ended by compensating us few with a $10 GC. However, I do find it quite disturbing when they put such kind of a remark in the cancellation note.

Did anyone else get the same response from the Walmart?

Thanks!
