Is this any good ? I was looking to top off and level some parts of the backyard, looking at those big bag delivery companies & they are charging $100+ for 1 cubic yard. If my calculations are correct, I would need ~30 of these to get 1cubic yard. Does my math add up ?

It does. 765 liters per cubic yard = 30.6 bags. You do have to be careful on how much your vehicle can take. Weight is approx 20-25lbs per bag, so 1 cubic yard is 600-750lbs. (edit: some sites say 1 cubic yard of top soil can weigh 2000-3000 lbs. That seems high to me, but maybe )

Also, not sure where you live but here, i bought 'organic', 'no weed' top soil and had it delivered. Ended paying 3x as much as this and a week later weeds were growing like crazy.

Finally, this is Organic Black Earth and not top soil. It may be top soil, it may not be. I am not a gardner, but you should make sure it will work for your requirements. It probably will but there is a difference.

Top soil refers to the general top 2 to 8 inches of soil found in a fertile area. The soil is rich in organic material and has an active, thriving micro-fauna population. Top soil is usually either deep brown or black in color and for this reason is often called black earth or black soil.

Black Earth
Not all black soil is top soil, though. Soil may have the presence of chemicals such as iron that give it a dark brown to black coloring. There is no guarantee that the soil has any of the attributes of top soil that make it desirable for plant growth.

sounds about right, 30 bags looks like a cubic yard of dirt.

1 cubic yard = 762 cubic litres 762/25=30 bags.

Last year I used this with fertilizer and had better results than those expensive organic top soils (Scott and another brand). I didn't get any unusual amount of weed with any of them.

@kiasu when does it expire?

I think this is better than the Vigoro at Home Depot. The texture of VOILA seems much finer vs chunks/strips of bark that you see in Vigoro.

So I bought these (21L version) last summer for 79 cents each and I got 26bags which filled up my entire trunk (sentra).
I was a bit worried about all the weight being on the back and the car seemed a bit slow but the car's still fine :P

For the soil quality, it's fine for lawns and gardens. For gardens I get a bag of chicken or cow shit thingy - I'm having a brain freeze and I forget what they are called lol - and mix it in a bit and my plants thrive. I also have a bit of potting mix mixed in too cuz I start them in pots during the winter and then plant them outside so maybe those little white grains help too idunno.
For the garden, I use it to level off or fill in holes and stuff and we have no problems whatsoever.
Though I have never tried growing new lawn on just these, adding like a 1inch layer over the garden with empty spot seemed okay. I also mix in a bit of lawn fertilizer. Not those shit cuz i don't want my entire lawn to smell.
