Rona clearance price match

Want to buy a product from Rona and found out a local store has it on clearance price but with 0 stock. Can I buy it at regular price online and then return/buy back at local store to get the better price? Or simply a price protection?

Has anyone done this before? Thanks!

...and people wonder why retailers are reducing or eliminating their price match/guarantee promotions.

Don't you find it annoying when same brand of stores have difference in price? Not just this case, but SDM especially.

Didn't you say it was a clearance price in the local store. So what is annoying about it?

Every store could have their own in store clearance prices. For most items, SDM actually will list it at the same price. There are some cases where an item might be priced lower or higher based on the location but anything on the flyer should be the same price (unless the manager decides to run a special).

Plus lower prices in store are often used as a loss leader or due to competition. This is pretty normal in high competitive areas (I.e. if you goto buy groceries with multiple stores close together, the prices could change multiple times a day based on competitor prices). Again this is pretty normal and it’s why competition is generally good for the consumer.

As far as the original question goes. Some stores will refuse return on items they currently have on clearance and ask you to get a shipping label if you want to return it. After all the item is on clearance, why would they want more stock? Also return and repurchase is ymmv in general. While most reps won’t mind doing it, some will refuse to do it even if the item isn’t on clearance. Costco for example won’t do return + repurchase if the item is not currently in stock at that store. Any items returned will also not be resold (they will sell them in bulk to a liquidation company).

No, because I understand that different managers have different priorities. For example, one location may have item X on sale because they want to clear out the last couple to clear floor space for a new shipment of seasonal merchandise or the newest big thing. You don't think there's a reason why the item is on clearance, AND there's none in stock? Hey...the manager just accomplished what they wanted.

If I find a retailer with pricing that I don't like, I'll simply go to the retailer who has a pricing structure I DO like.

What I DO find annoying is people who abuse return or pricing policies, because retailers clue into that abuse and alter their policies so I wind up paying more.
