[Rona] Dewalt 40V 22-in Cordless Hedge Trimmer $185

Although I have never used a rechargeable hedge trimmer this seems like a pretty hot deal to me. Stumbled onto it while searching lawn mowers. Free shipping and possibly you could haggle for save-the-tax as well? These rechargeable mowers, weedwhackers etc seem to be gaining in popularity for smaller sized lawns and gardens to maintain.

I think one larger benefit to any battery powered tool is the ecosystem of that tool. I.e. what other tools you have where the battery can be used. Otherwise, things can get quite expensive.

I think the Dewalt 40V tools might be going end of life. I've seen a few go on clearance the last few months. I'd stick with 20V and 60V flex product lines if you want to reuse the battery.

I’ve had the Dewalt 40v System - trimmer, hedger, and blower for past three years. Solid and beats Home Depot 40v without question. Add that it has a three year warranty, this is a good deal. Battery alone is $100 so having that included is a bonus.

So this isn't flex volt?

I have the 20V hedge trimmer, its an amazing tool, I have no idea why anyone would ever need a hedge trimmer more powerful than the 20v so if you already have 20v batteries and if the 20v tool is cheaper I would get the 20v version. It cuts through branches as big as the blades open (which is quite large), not sure what else one could want from a hedge trimmer

Nope, it's the older 40V line, the battery is not compatible with 20 and 60V flexvolt or XR tools.

The 40v line has been and still targets professionals rather than homeowners. If you wanted Dewalt's BEST (in terms of run time, power, and ergonomics) yard power tools, then 40v is it.

However, everybody is different in what they want in terms of eco system, so it makes sense to choose the ecosystem that fits you best. However, don't be fooled in thinking that the 40v is inferior to the 60v Flexvolt because of the marketing voltage, the 40v is actually a better tool period. If the 40v ecosystem fits you, then perfect. I suspect that most people would prefer and fit the 20v or Flexvolt system because of their huge tool selection.

Thanks OP, got the last on at Sheppard and willowdale. Anyone have experience with their other 40v offerings? Great deal on this, looks great, hope it performs!

The weed whacker is great. Use the Dewalt string. Very good. Two speeds low and high.
Blower lasts about 20 mins on max and 25 plus on lower speed. Good movement of material.

You’ll be happy with the hedge trimmer

Awesome, thanks for your input! Excited to put this to use and retire my old electric trimmer and 100ft cord! What a chore that's been

Watch m Amazon, Rona and Lowe’s for sales. The blower and hedge trimmer were bought two years ago on a sale for $259 with bonus extra battery. The weed whacker was three years ago and still going strong. Three year warranty on all equipment too.

So regretted not to pick up the 40V Toro Hedge Trimmer w/battery and charger ($40 no tax) seen at ReStore two weeks ago, went back next day and was already gone. Anyone needed hedge trimmer and feeling lucky should check their local homedepot in the clearance area.
