Got a question if you know anything about sump pumps, i have one in my unfinished basement.

Does the pipe coming out of the pump need to be straight up to the ceiling before running along the ceiling and exiting out the wall?

Reason I am asking is when in future we plan to finish the basement, I would like it to run the pipe out of the pump along the floor edge thats close to the pump before going up the wall and out instead.

Bought it as a backup pump. Will definitely always have a Liberty pump as main pump, but will have this one in the box as back up if the Liberty one fails

You can put pipe elbows on it.

Consider that every elbow/length of pipe you add, adds restriction to the flow. Those pumps have maximum heights you can lift water, and adding elbows can reduce that height, make sure your pump is the right size once you re-run your pipe

Besides the price being hot/not hot, is this a good pump?

As somone has posted, limit the amount of elbows and keep the pipe run out of the basement as short as possible. Perhaps consider a new pump with more power and install at same time you are re-routing the pipe. Keep old pump as a back up.

Edit: i did some googling... So not my suggestion but a good one. Avoid using sharp 90 degree elbows. There are "sweeping" 90 degree elbows that help with water flow.

If I read you right your asking if the pipe can run along the floor a little then up a pipe and out. Mine was built that way. Can't say as that's code but the builder who built the house has a good reputation around these parts. Also my set up uses two pumps the secondary is positioned above the first and would only kick in if the first failed. I test it in the spring by unplugging the first and watching. I have a water alarm and a camera in the sump pit room... You know so I can jump up and down at work as I watch my basement flood lol
