[Royal Bank] RBC Avion Visa Infinite - FYF & 15000 Points (+5k on $1000 spent)

Get 15,000 Welcome Points & The 1st Year Annual Fee Waived Upon Approval† Plus earn 5,000 extra RBC Rewards Points with a Minimum Spend†

It seems this only works if you click on this link, it is not an advertised deal on RBC website.

This is one of the only cards with trip cancellation insurance.

How much is 15000 points worth? What can you redeem the points on?

2,500 pts is 25$ amazon gift card if you want to cash it out. Better to be used for travel I think.

hmm, fyf and 15k+5k points with $1000 spent. Not as good as the previous fyf and 25k points with no minimum spent but still not bad...

Going to call and see if I can convert my rbc card to this offer...

I converted this card to rewards+ (no fee) card.

It would be awesome if I can convert it back. lol

I would say better to redeem for a rbc tfsa savings reward, and then withdraw the cash. Last year I was able to redeem $250 for 25k points during a promotion, usually it's 30k points for that.

Title updated to include 5k points on $1000 spent.

Hmm, I wonder if they’ll do 25,000 points again. Hopefully that’s not a thing of the past. Still enticing enough. Apart from Scotiabank’s cards (which I’m not eligible for the bonus), the next best would be a cash back card with a spend of $2,000 to get the same amount.

They do this promo like once every year, so even if there will be 25k points it probably will not be this year.

The strange thing is that, from time to time, on my account it shows that I’m prequalified for the card with 25k bonus. When I click, it shows only 15k. I wonder if I can screenshot and send to them and ask them to honor their advertisement.

Found this in the terms and conditions:

Additional cardholder(s), as well as existing RBC Avion Visa Infinite or Visa Platinum Avion, Cathay Pacific‡ Visa Platinum, British Airways‡ Visa Infinite, RBC Rewards Visa Preferred, RBC Avion Visa Infinite Privilege and RBC Avion Visa Infinite Privilege for Private Banking cardholders, applying for or transferring to an RBC Avion Visa Infinite card as of the offer eligibility period, are not eligible for this offer.

For any existing RBC customers, can you answer me this - Say I transfer my existing rewards Visa to this, can I just swap it back after a year?
