[Royal Bank] Use RBC True House Affordability (THA) mortgage tool and get 15$ DoorDash coupon [YMMV] [now extended]

Update - RFDer’s who availed this offer including myself can confirm no credit check was recorded to the file even if they do it will be a soft check just to confirm details entered are correct.

I just filled RBC true affordability form and received 15$ DoorDash coupon. This is a mortgage pre-qualify tool by RBC, They collect annual salary, name, address and phone number but won't do a hard credit check (or) make nuisance calls.

Link to RBC tool - https://apps.royalbank.com/apps/true-ho ... in/welcome

Voucher on the final screen -

I tried using the coupon in DoorDash it works without any issue even for a minimum order, here's the screen capture -

Although this tool is open to everyone I believe coupon is YMMV, A friend of mine who is not an RBC customer was given an error message "couldn't find details" and another buddy who is an RBC customer but used this tool sometime last year was able to go through the entire process however, didn't receive the coupon at the end.

RBC terms and conditions -

The True House Affordability Tool provides a prequalification, which gives you an estimate of the amount of mortgage you may qualify for with us based on the accuracy and completeness of the information provided by you. This prequalification is for illustrative and general information purposes only and is not intended to provide specific financial or other advice. Prequalification is not the same as a mortgage approval or pre-approval.

In order to be eligible for the $15 DoorDash credit (“Offer”), between March 4, 2020 and June 6, 2020 you must complete the THA tool (mortgage prequalification) and reach the page within the tool that displays results (“eligibility criteria”). Upon meeting eligibility criteria the Offer will be displayed on the final results page in the form of a promo code that is unique to you. The same promo code will be emailed to your email address that you inputted in the THA tool.

DoorDash term and conditions:

Offer must be redeemed by August 31, 2020. Use the unique promo code given to redeem. Limited to one Offer per person. Not valid for the purchase of alcohol. Fees, taxes, and gratuity still apply. All deliveries subject to availability. Must have or create a valid DoorDash account with a valid form of accepted payment on file. No cash value. Non-transferable. Offer can be withdrawn or cancelled at any time. DoorDash, not Royal Bank of Canada, is responsible for the terms and conditions related to the Offer and DoorDash services. See full terms and conditions at www.dasherhelp.doordash.com/offer-terms-conditions

P.S. I am interested in buying a home (may be in 2 years) so I read RBC terms & conditions and found no harm in filling the RBC mortgage form kindly understand in my case 15$ coupon is just a bonus however, if you feel RBC terms & conditions (or) sharing personal information make this deal worthless kindly ignore this post and let other's in same boat avail this dealThumbs Up Sign

Stay safe fellow RFD'ers 🤠

Thanks OP.

This requires a full credit check by the looks of it. Not just a calculation based on data entered by you.

This is in the terms and conditions

For these purposes, we may:
Provide the Information to an RBC Mortgage Specialist or Home Advisor in your area who will contact you at the email address or telephone number provided and assist you with the prequalification and any subsequent mortgage application.

Provide the Information to a credit reporting agency in order to identify you and to determine your credit status.

You will be required to answer a question based on your credit report for authentication purposes. Your credit status will be used by the Bank to estimate the mortgage amount you may qualify for using the True House Affordability tool.

Make the Information available to our employees, agents and service providers, who are required to maintain the confidentiality of the Information. In the event our service provider is located outside of Canada, the service provider is bound by, and the information may be disclosed in accordance with, the laws of the jurisdiction in which the service provider is located.

I did it on my phone and signed in to my rbc account. I have a visa with them. The last page showed the mortgage amount and a mortgage specialist's info but no door dash code. :(

From the RBC website ...
"Please read the documentation below. To continue, we’ll need to send your information to the credit bureau (remember, this will not affect your credit score)."

Does this mean it is a soft check ?

Thanks OP. Just finished the pre approval and got the door dash coupon immediately. I am an RBC client and never filled the form before.

I feel like they don’t check credit, they usually do this for the actual approval, no?

Yes you’re understanding is correct, they’re simply confirming details provided are accurate by doing a soft check.

I just got the credit. Looks like they didn't do a credit check since I didn't have to answer any credit bureau questions but I'm already an RBC client with an RBC mortgage. Thanks for the free lunch OP!

Where are you getting this?

Sure, there will be no impact on your credit score, but there will be a (soft) credit check.

Your financial and personal information will then be used "to contact you at the email address/telephone number provided and to assist you with any subsequent mortgage application."

Further, your information may be used to:
-Provide the Information to an RBC Mortgage Specialist or Home Advisor in your area who will contact you at the email address or telephone number provided and assist you with the prequalification and any subsequent mortgage application.
-Provide the Information to a credit reporting agency in order to identify you and to determine your credit status. You will be required to answer a question based on your credit report for authentication purposes. Your credit status will be used by the Bank to estimate the mortgage amount you may qualify for using the True House Affordability tool.
-Make the Information available to our employees, agents and service providers, who are required to maintain the confidentiality of the Information. In the event our service provider is located outside of Canada, the service provider is bound by, and the information may be disclosed in accordance with, the laws of the jurisdiction in which the service provider is located.

If you're not really planning on getting a mortgage anytime soon, is it really worth it to consent to nuisance calls for $15?
