[Royal Canadian Mint] Royal Canadian Mint: $20 Pure Silver Canoe Coin for $20

More offers from Royal Canadian Mint
Here we go again. The Royal Canadian Mint is offering another $20 face value coin for $20 (no tax or shipping charges). The coin is pure silver (99.99%). There is a limit to 3 per household. The last time they did this, it sold out very quickly.

Most of us would not qualify to purchase this because...

Masters Club membership is achieved upon purchase of over $999.99CDN* on one or more purchases and valid for one year from the date that threshold is reached. Once membership expires, it will renew upon a subsequent qualification of purchases totaling over $999.99CDN.

For the record, I didn`t realize I was a Masters Club member until I signed into the website today. It must have been the Chinese zodiac silver coins that put me over and into the club.

Any idea how long these sorts of promotions remain master's club only? I bought one of the previous $20 coins and am supposed to be on the mailing list for updates on new coins in the series.

I can't see the details page for the coin (I don't qualify for master's club). Is this mintage on this one 200,000 just like the other one?

What is the weight of these coins? I recall the last one being quite small. That said, given how unlikely it is that resale even immediately after purchase would be less than $20, potential confidence in the silver market, it's tough to call these a bad buy IMO.

thanks for the info.

So given that silver is at $32.49/oz right now, this is worth around $8.30 in silver.

I wouldn't call it a hot deal, it is only $9.05 silver value. 7.96g (0.28oz) at $32.25per oz, today silver price.

A $100 bill probably cost only $1 to make.

After 3 iterations,

6) Take all those airmiles you collected on the $60 limit and go on an all inclusive trip across the universe!

edit: dammit, smash beat me

On topic, I got the coin the last time around and I guess it's cool. It's just a novelty really, it's not like anybody is going to make any money from this (unless silver takes off in value, but even then you're better off just buying silver bullion).

So, if I understand your point correctly, you are going to buy a few and use them to pay for groceries next week :)

Not one single coin issued in the last 50 years in NA values more then the silver value. For 10-15 year old coins it is usually 20% less when you factor in all the expenses. Of course, it is a totally different story when you own some 200year old coins.

Have an account but still can't find the coin. Is there an item number for it?

The number is 115885, but searching for that finds nothing. If you are logged in as a Masters Club Member, you will see it under the New Releases category (middle of the page).
