RTX 2070: to keep or not to keep

Received my Asus RTX 2070 a few days ago from Amazon for $585 tax in. Have until end of August to return. Doesn't even do 144fps at 1080p on ultra settings in modern warfare. New gen cards are coming out soon. Can go back to my RX 570 till then but it would be less than ideal. Should I keep or return and why?

Sell or return. Terrible Terrible idea to buy any card now. Next gen is going to be revolutionary.

Paying that much for a GPU is too much, but if you want the frames + settings then you gotta pay up.

An RX 570 is still pretty good. Although it's only worth like ~$100 at most since there is a surplus of RX 480s which perform better than an RX 570.

I highly recommend that you stick to lower settings, but aim for 1080p + 60 to 144 fps. Some games have graphic presents, normally I would just choose the highest performance vs quality setting and just increase the resolution if they change it to 1280x720.

I normally can't tell the difference between ultra quality at 4k vs medium or low. It's only at very low settings that the game kinda looks bad.

Gotta go 2080 level or better for consistent 144fps+ on warzone even on 1080 resolution. +1 in going down to high setting on some settings. There is probably one of two settings like shadow or motion blur that kills performance, tuning those down should get you closer to 144fps. If you decide to wait it'll probably be October/November before you'll see next gen cards. Rumor has it they're being announced In September or late August.

if you dont plan on playing 4k, competitive or vr. keep it. and most likely you will be able to play most vr games anyways and somewhat competitive. the newest cards are going to be way more expensive than that price for that card. you should keep it and be happy that you can afford such a card.
i am going to get a 3080 just because i am on a mid life crysis and i must have a card, well that too and i am getting a VR headset of the next generation too that can hopefully run 4k. I am certain it will be 3 times that price too.
most places that will take return on these will charge you shipping fees back and 15% restocking fees. it makes almost no sense to do this, try talking with the customer service, unless you have bought it at best buy unless you want one mark on your amazon account. try selling on kijiji and see what comes up.

You could just put up an ad to get an idea of what you'll get in return.

Amazon takes back returns free of charge no questions asked. I get free shipping and free return shipping as well.

If you have regrets then return it before the due date. Wait till the newer GPU's come out, then decide.
we are all just one bad day away from losing everything
