Rugged off road type suv?

Looking for a large off-road type suv with lots of cargo space. I really love the old Land Rover defenders but those things are like 100k + for a 2010 lol. Is there anything a little more affordable? I really like the fj cruiser type looking suv but those are hard to find too..leaning toward wrangler but the cargo space doesn’t look very big .

How about the new Ford Bronco? Or if you need cargo, the Jeep Gladiator as the pickup bed provides lots of cargo. Keep in mind that Jeeps are terrible on road.
Or a Ford Expedition as it's massive with tons of cargo and will handle anything but rock crawling.

Do you need one that can actually go off road? Or just one that looks like it?

I'd go with the Jeep Wrangler if you want a true off road vehicle. Plus they hold their resale value really well.

Not sure if this can be classified as an suv (looks closer to a wagon) but the new wilderness Outback should have plenty of space.

One that looks like it! I want something that will drive nicely in winter too. I like that bronco a lot actually.

so you have no need/use for actual offroad capability.

Defender, FJ and Wranglers are all terrible on road, as are most of the recommendations here

Buy an SUV/CUV/wagon/van that meets your cargo needs.

OK, so definitely avoid any real off-roader like a Jeep Wrangler.
What's your budget?
A Bronco Sport can look off road like in the rugged trim level.
The new Bronco looks great and will be nice on the road.
Typical faux-roader usage would be a Range Rover or Mercedes G-wagon. Range Rover has terrible quality though, so avoid that.
Just about every car sold will drive well in the winter with winter tires on.

In all seriousness, how about a 4Runner?

For something pretty common out there that is still sold, I'd be inclined to look at the 4Runner

OP do you actually want to off road with your vehicle? If so, the Wrangler and 4 runner hold value and offer those features.

However if you just want a rugged look, you're going to probably be unhappy with it. The ride of those vehicles is extremely stiff and uncomfortable, and they get atrocious gas mileage, and poor acceleration. They're also very expensive up front.

You're probably better off buying a Jeep Cherokee Trailhawk to pretend like you're the off roading type while you're going to Food Basics. The ride will be much better and will cost you less.

Do you want to hard park it at the mall or actually go offroad?
