RWD Based Tesla Model 3?

Thinking about the base Tesla Model 3 RWD.

The only thing that concerns me is driving RWD in winter?

Also, want to use this for Turo car rental. Anyone have experience in this?

How often are you going to be driving up a >10% ice covered hill? That's the only time I can't make it up a hill with X-ice3. Get studded tires or chains if that's your daily trek.

We have a RWD TM3. No Problems in the winter with good winter tires, just like any car out there.

Have you tried taking your TM3 up the uphill near Avenue/Davenport whenever there is 10+cm? On CP24, there was a TM3 that ended up sitting on the side of the road during a recent storm. Couldn't get up the hill ;)

Other cars couldn't either. LOL.

That would be dumb in any vehicle. Even an AWD beast with studded tires would be dumb because it would get stuck behind some dummy without snow tires.

My RWD M3 spun out for the first time this winter.......that's when I realized the back tires were COMPLETELY bald. It's basically impossible to spin the RWD out if your tires have at least SOME tread.

I would say the only negative with the RWD TM3 is that I couldn't have any fun and do donuts with it because the TC is too intrusive and there isn't a good way to disable it. Too bad they don't off track mode on the SR+. At 3500lbs it's relatively light (same or less than a current BMW 3-series) and the handling is decent, so it would be fun at the track.

There is slip start mode but barely allows any slip.

I mean there's this: https://www.mountainpassperformance.com ... /partybox/ but it's a hefty price to pay

Yes, I follow them. It's a lot but not too pricey if you like to track your car and your going to tires and brakes. But they haven't fully defeated the RWD TCS yet.
But pretty awesome what they've done so far.

OP go for the TMS Plaid.

It’ll pay for itself since you’ll put it on Turo!

Not unless you ride into the sidewalk and keep going.

You are asking this based on the experience of ICE rwd being worse in snow/ice due to the driving wheels being in the rear but the mass being at the front (engine). Tesla weight is more evenly distributed due to the battery. Its not as good as awd, but good enough (have a Rwd tm3)

ICE or EV doesn't matter as much as weight distribution does. 50/50 is ideal.
