Ryobi 40v Battery Flashing

Hi

I have the Ryobi 40v battery 1.5 years old. Suddenly started flashing red/green in the charger and doesnt charge. I am guessing its dead. I saw few posts online about how to revive it and nothing worked. Just wanted to check if someone had this issue before and managed to revive or just lose hope and throw for recycle

thanks

There are places that can replace the internal batteries but it's a toss of whether you'd want to be more envronmentally friendly or are okay with paying exquivalent-to-new pricing (if not more, as one can frequently get great deals on new batteries bc of rfd).

Try cleaning the contact points on battery and charger. Also keep the battery at room temp before charging.

+1 if they're too cold or too hot, they won't charge in the charger.

How many volts measured on the terminals?
If it is unfixable, open it up and reuse the cells. Can be used to fix other battery packs, or individually in flashlights, battery banks, etc.

This, unless you got it used

What happened before it died?

It's got a warranty. Use it right away, don't wait - don't take the risk and you'll probably get a new battery.

Please let us know how the warranty replacement goes.

I just bought a new Ryobi 40v lawnmower. So far what I've seen of the battery:

- Charge to full, 4 green LEDs when the test button is pressed.
- After a short test mow of a few minutes, battery show 3/4 LEDs.
- Another slightly longer test mow with the mower speeding up through some tough long grass (total since charge maybe 10 minutes), battery show 2/4 LEDs
- Left sitting for a week (no recharge), battery back to showing 4/4 LEDs!
- Another short mow of 10 minutes, battery shows 3/4 LEDs

So the charge state shown by the LEDs is a very rough guide at best. Ryobi needs work on their battery firmware.

Wow, thanks RFD
I pulled my receipt and went to https://www.ryobitools.com/support/contact
told them about my battery issue, they asked me about serial numbers of battery, tool and charger and they are shipping me a new battery to my house

Thanks again, that saved me $200
