Which Ryobi electric lawner mower is the better option?

Do not have a big yard to cut, maybe 1000 sqft between front and back. Debating which is the better lawn mower to purchase? Cannot really decide. I have a spare Ryobi 40V 5Ah battery.

The self-propelled mower you have selected is an older model than the walk-behind you have linked. While I don't have a time machine, that self-propelled model has been cleared out in many stores already for as low as $300. I don't know enough about whether there are any differences in the motors being used though, but I can definitely say one is an older model so it's possible.

One difference is that the self-propelled does not appear to have the quick charger. Now, it may come with a free quick charger (the other Ryobi 40V model last year came with a free quick charger upgrade), but I don't know for sure. That is one difference however, as I believe the quick charger cuts recharge time down to 1 hour.

If I was faced with this decision, I would go with the self-propelled for $20 more. You don't have to use it all the time, and when you do I am sure battery life plummets. But I would want that feature for the odd time it is handy (I have a gas self propelled now so do occasionally use the self propelled feature). Luckily, I haven't had to make that decision as the old walk-behind version was on sale for $318 at my store, so I picked that one up a couple weeks ago. You could check if your store has one, here is a link to stocktrack with the one I bought (it's the previous year model, just like your self-propelled above): https://stocktrack.ca/?s=hd&sku=1001487536

1000 sqft front and back? These might be too large and cumbersome for you. Maybe consider a deck with a smaller width.

Neither. Last year's nearly-identical models have been on clearance at HD for the last couple of months for $180 less (check Hot Deals). They didn't come with a fast charger, but they have a coupon in the box to get one for free from Ryobi. See if you can still find one in your area.

The only real difference between these two models is that one has the self-propelled option. Keep in mind that these all-plastic mowers are lighter than a typical gas mower, and the self-propelled feature uses up the battery faster.

1000 sq ft is not that large and these electric mowers are relatively light. I would not bother with self propelled.

My yard is about 1800 sq ft and a 5ah battery lets me cut it 1.5x on a single charge

A rapid charger would be nice as the regular charger takes a couple hours to charge a 5ah, but it’s really not a concern since I mow about once a week
