safe to buy gym membership secondhand?

Is there anything in particular to look out for with sellers of gym memberships? I gather goodlifefitness DOES allow transfer for example, but whether one could transfer a corporate plan to someone who is not with their employer seems a bit more suspect.

I presume there's the usual risk of paying and nothing delivered, beyond that assuming they actually do a transfer is the buyer then protected as new owner of the membership or could the seller yoink it back at some time after the transaction?

You have to do it in person I imagine at the goodlife location. Doing otherwise without the consent of goodlife could result in them just canceling the membership (specifically if it's a corporate one).
