Sakura Range Hoods

Anyone have a Sakura range hood? How's the quality of them? Can't find reviews online.

I have a Sakura, although not the model you're looking it. I can't remember my model number. It's pretty quiet and works well.

Are all range hoods the same size? Mine is old and I saw one at Costco for $100 that I want. Not sure if it will fit though.

I have a Sakura and I love it. It really does work to keep the smells away. My kitchen is rather open and cooking really isn't a problem anymore. The hood is pretty loud though, which is a negative. But it does as expected.

It's cheap, means those little buttons on the front will break, then you will have a problem of how to fix it. Better put the whole thing on a separate switch and turn it on when you need, i have the fan and light always on.

The 30" ones are around 29.25" in width, careful with the cheap ones as they're pretty loud.

Is $100 considered cheap quality or not? No idea what the price point of them is. Didn't note down the brand or anything either but will revisit soon.

Its about as inexpensive as they get, once you get past the $500 mark you start getting bigger and quieter fans and thicker stainless steel.

Dang. Now a days nothing will last that long. Quality is down down down. How is the Costco brand, Ancona? Kinda sucks they don't have it on display.

So I went back to Costco:

- $109
- American Standard company
- stainless steel
- made in China
- 30-inch
- powerful and quiet 290 cfm

Thoughts?

290cfm is weak. I'd go for something over 600 especially if you have a gas stove.

I got a Sakura M-2000 which has 780cfm. It is just strong enough for our gas stove. Actually, on second thought, I think something slightly stronger may be better. At 290cfm, you only got a little baby kitten.

+1. Invest in something more in the $400 and you will see the difference. Just replaced my Pacific (replaced my cheap builder grade 13 years ago) last summer with Sakura SS extra depth one. If you cook at home more often then it's worth it.

Did you buy the Sakura B-2A? How was it? I am also looking at this model, it looks stylish and has enough power 780CFM to suck all smell. Would you mine to tell me how much is the best price to buy? Currently Walmart selling for $734 + tax free shipping. Staples has the same price but you can use some coupons to reduce $10 - $20. Thanks.

I checked out pacific and sakura and ended up going with the Sakura U2 with the rocker switches. The flat panel and the fuzzy logic models felt like the buttons would break after a while. The rockers seemed solid.

I have a 6" pipe with one soft 90 degree bend. About a 4 Metre run. Suction is great. I can pan fry a steak and it all gets sucks in right away. Curry smell is gone if I leave the fan running 15 minutes afterwards.

The fact that the fans are more towards the front is nice too.

I used to own a Sakura, not bad rangehood, powerful enough for Chinese cooking method, but the mesh net is a stupid idea, it doesn't help mitigate oil accumulation on the fan at all and cleaning the net is a bitch, I eventually developped a quick method to clean them by pour some gasoline and lite it up, but since the mesh does nothing but blocking air flow I eventually removed them and the range sucks air even better! their fans are located towards the outside which is a big CON unlike azteni, but azteni tends to be cheaper given the equal CFM.

Anyone know a particular store in gta with good prices for the sakura range hoods? Or even online?
