Salary Expectations Retail

my significant other is currently fighting their way up the retail ladder and never completed their college diploma. They are currently an Associate/Assistant Store Manager at a store doing over 1M$ a year.

Any ideas on going salary for a high end retailer as the store manager in a major shopping center?

As a store manager in your typical shopping mall store? About $30k-$40k. Enough for a modest living. The variance is huge... It depends on the size of store and company.

I know fast food store managers get $35k-$40k/yr if they run the whole shop. e.g. 1 step below the franchisee... the right hand man of the store so to speak.

Walmart does pay its store managers pretty good - average in the US is $92,462; Costco pays even more. Still, I think unowned is correct, there are many more STEM jobs and you don't need to deal with the politics of being a store manager and still make more money.

Pretty good estimates here 50-60k is about right, 70 with good experience and over 1M weekly sales.

Hopefully she has the opportunity to be a store manager...the ones I know worked like a dog when they were assistants.

I know lack of higher education and higher salaries become a discussion but opportunities for these types of jobs and people with the skill sets for them are not as common as one would think.

Clearly you have not worked in typical engineering office for fortune 500. If there could be more politics I would running for senate.

Thankfully I've been lucky not to deal with too much treachery in my job; and when there is I usually have a way of silencing the critics :D

Walmart retail managers do make a lot of money. EAsily $100k + bonus for the store manager. I imagine district managers make a lot more.
But its a different type of retail beast.

Think of it this way... They get paid in relation to what they do. Sure they are a manager at a 'crummy ghetto retail store'. But that store is a business that pulls in $50,000,000 per year in sales easily. Each store employs hundreds of people... and at minimum at least a dozen management staff. I imagine each department has at least 1 manager and a few supervisors.

Its a big operation!

Wow becoming a store manager at Walmart seems like a good alternative to being an engineer now and days lol. If you already have education not to big a deal really should be easy to pull in at least 80k as a Peng with a few years experience. But maybe we should be telling younger generations work for Walmart is the way to go don't bother with post secondary Ed lol.

Currently an assistant making 50k in a 10 000 sq.ft store. New store would be the manager in a much smaller (2000 sq ft store)...trying to get an idea about potential salary
