good news and bad news! i got the deal!(paperwork all signed/setup) but i don't have the phone lol... shud i cancel or to play it safe wait for the phone to ship to me

i wasn't able to trade in any POS phone for 50k pts tho...does it have to be a new phone?

so its 360 plus tx(407$) +35 activation fees - 150$ opts pts =approx 292$ + days of service prorated...i think its gonna take like a week to get my phone 7/30 x 45 =10$ cost

so give or take 300$ oop for samsung s9, not bad, phone is too small/skinny imo
Did you buy it in store or online? How are the store shipping it to you?

Because most people will say why pay $25 × 3 when it costs $0 to cancel.
If you do a referral on those lines, and stay 90 days, you're paying $75 but get $60-$70 back in referral credits. Right? ($50 on main line, plus 1-2 months of $10 on second line)

Logged into the Koodo website and got my final bill (purchased at BB on Dec 22). Total came to $417.93 before the 150 GC. I'm in AB by the way. Thanks OP!

Koodo made a complete mess of my bill for 2 lines, they are charging me for the monthly tab plus the tab payout amount for the line that is cancelled plus they are charging me the tab for the other line which is still active on the cancelled line, meaning two tabs plus tab payout amount for cancelled line and then for the active line 2 tab amounts plus partial charges for 3 days and additionally monthly charge for the active line. Then there is a charge of the tab for a temporary number before my number was ported. So in essence I am paying a monthly tab for 5 lines when I only signed up for two. When I called customer service, he said this is only a generic bill (whatever that means) he said the actual bill will only be generated by Jan. 15th. The due date online is Jan. 21st. He insisted why I did not return the phone for the line I ported over/cancelled. This is a headsup for all.

The bill looks absolutely convoluted. Customer service has no clue and asked me to contact them after Jan. 15th. My first experience with Koodo not a very pleasant one.

Is there a way to escalate this since I am going on vacation for 2 weeks in middle of January. I wanted to clear the mess before I go since this might become a recurring issue.

I got the s9 at the Oshawa Walmart on Lavar RD and can confirm they're still offering the 150$ Gift Card there. At first he tried to tell me it was 100$ only on a large tab, but after having him check his machine he indeed confirmed the initial promotional offer.

A question about porting, does it have to be to a prepaid sim? Or can you port from Koodo to Freedom if you have an existing number and cancel immediately? Complete novice, thanks.

The reason behind porting to a prepaid sim (specifically with Bell) is that you can port the number over without having to add money on the Bell prepaid account. After a few months (I think 90 days of inactivity) the account and line becomes disconnected (or something like that). It's a simpler and easier way, and the Bell sim cards can be purchased on eBay for 99 cents and the sim card number can be emailed to you so that you could do the port over by the next day (generally speaking).

Does canceling affect credit score?
Signing up as a new customer will trigger a credit check.

It's the same as cancelling with any other carrier, so generally yes it's just a pain in the butt. Half the time it's the calling in part and being put on hold, and then having to make up an excuse as to why you want to cancel and pay out your tab instead of returning the phone, especially after only having the line for 1-2 days which is why a lot of people port out to a prepaid sim for 99 cents.

Others have said to request a call back for cancellation, and it's an easier task. I opted to port out.
