What is the cheapest retail option to get a new S10 these days? Samsung store with an SPC card?

The 20+ was basically the same price a few weeks back. Assume with the note coming out the sale will come back. May want to just track samsung deals generally. It was 1029.

Wait a few more weeks for Back to School sales. In 2018, the Galaxy S8 was $0 down and $10/month with Fido, Koodo and Virgin Mobile. Last year the Galaxy S9 was $10/month on Fido, Koodo and Virgin Mobile. I expect the same deal will be available this year on the Galaxy S10e or Galaxy S10.

The Galaxy S20+ was about $20/month with Rogers and Bell, but that was with leasing options (pay a balance at the end of two years). The Galaxy S20 is $19.54/month on 24-month plans at Rogers right now but only with Upfront Edge. The similarly-spec'ed Motorola edge+ is $19.99/month at Rogers right now with no Upfront Edge required.

Those are all great except for having to switch providers and lose an amazing BYOP plan :p

So basically you simply looking for the cheapest outright pricing? Not a deal from a cellphone provider?

I'm in that boat too. I pay $39/mo for a $10gb plan through Koodo (but can't access tabs from Koodo). If I switched to Rogers to get the S10, I wouldn't only need to pay the $20/month for the phone but I'd be facing an increase in my monthly bill too (making the phone cost a lot more). :(

Samsung SPC deal got better

S10 for 714 is quite a drop from a couple days ago when the SPC price was 816

Zod, are you able to purchase the device full price and keep your current package?

Yes, but the full prices are usually crazy high. The deals are only on the tabs (usually med or ultra).

I think Samsung put the s series phones on sale. I wonder if $714 is going to be the lowest we see for a while (on a non-subsidized phone purchase).

I got the S10 3 weeks ago for $13.33/month over 24 month with Virgin on a retention deal (plan is $37/month for 5GB). The phone was regular $30/month at the time.

It's now $20/month, so I'm kicking myself a bit. My retention deal would have brought it down to $3.33/month over 24 months.

Edit: 24 months, not years.

That still seems pretty amazing. I can't figure out how to get on $40 or less plan with at least 5gb's of a data with a discounted phone. Koodo won't let me get a big enough tab that gets me a discounted phone on my current $39/mo plan. Most other companies don't let you get discounted phones on their cheaper plans :( I think you did alright with V.M.

I was actually super surprised they made an offer like that. $37/month, $50 bill credit to offset activation, $400 device credit.

To get it, I left to Zoomer and was with them for all of 1 week before VM came knocking.

I was a BYOD on my wife's plan at VM and she had just signed a new 24 month, though, so that might have factored in to it.

I don't know what Fido retention is like, but might be worth it to just port out to a month to month with someone like Zoomer at $36 for 5GB, BYOD...and see if Fido calls. Though they're still a Rogers subsidiary.

A definitive action beats a threat.

Let's see...
1. Better processor on the S10.
2. Software experience- it depends. Some folks like pure android but I think Samsung implements android better than Google 🤭 (think dual Messenger, Bixby routines).
3 Camera, there's a lot of hype about Google camera and night sight. Might be worth it if you take a lot of photos.
4. Updates : definitely pixel 4A

Well the S10 was previously Samsung's flagship phone.
The 4a is essentially the budget version of the Pixel 4. On the bright side, it does use the same camera as the Pixel 4 (minus the telephoto lens, so you're zoomed photos won't be as good as the Pixel 4).

The S10 also has expandable storage (with micro SD), water/dust resistance, and the camera has ultra-wide options. Features that the Pixel 4a lacks.

I would prefer the S10, but if you don't care about the above mentioned things and you want a more cost friendly phone that still has a great camera, then the 4a is good option.

I would prefer the s10, but the s10 (unsubsidized) is a few hundred bucks more.

What I'm trying to figure out is if there was a sale on a regular pixel 4, what would I choose? With today's announcement that Samsung is extended Android Updates an extra year, the s10 is looking a while lot more attractive.
