Sander with one speed or multiple

Hi everyone,
I don't know much about sanders but came across this one on sale for $75, now there is one with speed setting that is extra $25. How important is it to have speed setting?

I was thinking of getting this since it's cheaper and just one speed

Price-wise, I got a dewalt random orbital and sheet sander combo for $79. RFD says it was a decade ago though. I don't remember if it is variable speed - I can check later today if you want.

As for whether variable speed is worth $25, I'm generally willing to spend on better tools... to me, I buy it once and use it for many years.

Might also depend on what you're doing... different applications might require different speeds - not sure.

I’m all for variable speed. I think I own one sander without it and barely use that one.
