[Save On Foods] AAA brisket $3.49/lb (YYC

I love brisket and keep buying it at Costco, but this is a great deal from SaveOn. Plus if you wait til the first Tuesday you’ll get another 15% off (minimum $50 purchase) For a very good price of $2.97/lb

Did it for the first time last week on my Weber Smokey Mountain. It was surprising easy (other than baby sitting the thing for 12 hours) and frigging delicious... Still have some vac-packed and frozen. Unfortunately no SaveOn in ON. Cheers.

Agreed - it's not all that difficult when you do it. the hardest part is probably letting it rest and resisting the urge to eat it too soon
When given enough time, all threads on RFD can and will go off on a tangent.

What temp did you cook at at and how big was the brisket? I also have a smokey mountain but have not tried a brisket on it yet.

Costco still has their AAA brisket on sale in Ontario.

You can do the smoker thing for 14 hours or go get some liquid smoke and cook the brisket in your instant pot for 2 hours and get an equally good result without the undetermined temperature stall time. I no longer have the patience for slow cooking a brisket on a smoker once I discovered this.

I did a 10lb Costco brisket on my 22" WSM last weekend. 18hrs at ~228F average, started at 10pm and hit 203F/pulled at 4pm the following day, no foil for the stall. Turned out amazing!

Brisket is a tough part of the cow? Must slow cook this correct to get it tender?

Prep it with a good rub.
Smoke it to 160 deg internal, then wrap it in foil and cook again until 200. Take off and put in a cooler for 2 hrs.
Then devour it. It's delicious.

Or try cooking it sous vide. A number of recipes on the net.
For those who don't want a whole brisket they have brisket roasts for $11/kg. Cooking it now, 50 hours then smoking to finish

What size instapot do you have. No ways I'd ever get a brisket in mine

You just cut it up into chunks - I use about 1.5 to 2 kg chunks so it fits flat in my instant pot, but you can make any size you want and even stack them.

Both stores in Airdrie sold out. One guy told me their supplier shorted them and they hope to get more tomorrow.

Where do you see the extra 15% off?

Holy cow, what a deal. We've been paying probably around $5.99 at best, on sale. To $8.99/lb or even $9.99 out here.

It's a price match for Safeway. They do 15% off on the first Tuesday of every month. It doesn't fall under their PM policy, but most stores have been doing it for ages. Remember, SOF does rain checks if OOS..
