Save up to 15,000 miles on travel gift cards

Expiry:
September 25, 2019
Retailer:
Aeroplan
Aeroplan is running a discount on their travel/car/gas gift cards right now for miles redemption - this is good for people who don't travel enough to redeem their points for big flights.

Examples:
$50 petro canada gc - normally 7,000 miles, now 6,250
$100 air canada gc - normally 10,000 miles now 8,500
Park'N Fly self park 10 single-day package - normally 15,500 miles now 13,500
$1,000 air canada gc - normally 100,000 now 85,000

Redeeming for gift cards is not worth it. The gas gift card for example you're getting less than 1 CPP. For AC GC you could get 3 round trips in NA. Might as well keep them in your aeroplan account when you do travel.

Anyone knows what reward program will Air Canada use in 2020?

Not all that bad, but there are sites out there that buy 100,000 miles for cash at rates like 1.2 cents per point or more. Air Canada would be 1.176 cents per point.

What site? I would like to see how much I will get. Using the miles on AirCanada always ends up with more taxes than the fare. I never found a deal with taxes, that was cheaper than buying the tickets directly with AirCanada. If I get the $1000 gift card, I could use it to buy the fare directly from AirCanada.

Then they bought Aeroplan from Aimia.

Looks like a decent deal if you can't get a good flight redemption. Converts to 1.176 cent per point. Expires Sept 25, 2019. No expiry on gift cards.

Can you use the gift cards on tickets, or just merchandise?
