Schengen Tourist Visa - Processing Time

Hi,

What is the normal processing time for the Schengen visa? Is it differs country wise, means if I am applying through Italy / French or through German Embassy, the processing time is different?
I will be travelling in May and want to apply for the Visa but I have a travelling job and do need my Passport frequently. I don't want to hold up my passport in the embassy for 2 weeks or maybe more... So what are the normal processing time compare to the 2 weeks mentioned on the embassy websites. Is there any possibility of getting the passport back within a week.

I already checked and do need visa...

thanks

depends where you are going? you can't just apply from any embassy. It has to be the country that you are staying in the most, that's the embassy apply at. If you are travelling in May then i suggest you book the appointment now since a lot of the appointment slots are taken.

My gf and I went in June to Italy and luckily we found an appointment slot at the end of april. Took less than 2 business to get the visa but that is just my experience.

@marktang how did you handle with flight and hotel reservations? Did you use a service like https://visareservation.com/

I am planning a trip now to England and france, but my wife will need two visas and the hotel and flight reservations are going to be a problem.

i just booked everything beforehand since we were pretty confident that it will be approved. You can purchase travel insurance if you are not sure if you will be approved or not. Some travel insurance will refund your purchases if your visa is denied.

if you spending equal time in each country then you have to apply where your first port of entry is. you can't just apply to any embassy you want. They are really strict on that.
