It is still on. Applied and approved yesterday.

Edit, maybe not anymore. It was active on July 14, but it seems it’s gone.

I have already reached $25K on recurring bills 6 months in.

Once you reach $25K for groceries and recurring, does the 4% drop to 2% or go to 1% for those categories?

There is a $25k spending cap for the rewards?, can you point me to the information so I can learn about it

If you want the full rebate, I think you need to wait until November.

Here is the answer I received from Scotia.

"The 10% bonus cashback was credited to your account, 2-3 month after the offer
end date. As an example:

If you make $2000 in eligible everyday purchases in the Gas Stations and
Grocery Stores category, your cash back earnings will be credited to your
Account as follows:

First, the Cash Back Bonus Rate of 6% x $2000 = $120 will be credited to your
Account within 2-3 months of the Offer End Date.

Secondly, the Cash Back Program Rate of 4% x $2000 = $80 will be credited to
your Account as per the regular cash back payment schedule (November)."

I would think gas gift cards bought at a grocery store would count as groceries.
Someone correct me if I'm wrong.

Does this mean that in November, should we not want to continue getting billed for the annual fee we should cancel the card after November? Is it Nov 1?

And if we accrued rewards AFTER Nov, would we have to wait until Nov 2021 to redeem them hence triggering the annual fee?

Thanks

I think your understanding is correct.
Something to ask Scotia about for sure.

Visa. Most bank adding payee function will tell you if you enter an incorrect acct# for a payee.(I.e. it will verify the acct # ).

Could anyone elaborate when cash back was applied exactly? I think that I still have not received it, Scotia bank claims otherwise. I opened my account and the card in March 2020

So we have no way to know if we're getting the 10% until 7 months out?

To help those who are in same boat.
I applied for this card last year march and was approved with a 20 K limit. I had a Scotia Gold Amex at the time with 20 K limit as well. I received the 10% CB on approx Oct as statement credit separate from the 1% CB accumulated over time. I was worried when applying I may have not received the 10% as I had a Scotia bank card at the time. This may be YMMV but the 10% was provided even though I had a previous scotia product. Hope this helps someone on the fence.

I just got denied the 10% cash back because they said I have another Scotia credit card (Passport) at the same time.

Has anyone else experienced this? Is there some way to get the 10%?

Just wondering how successful people are in calling in to have annual fee reduced, it’s got quite expensive for primary and secondary cards, I’d like to give my kid a secondary for an emergency but just way too expensive.

What is considered "eligible"?

Almost everything is eligible as long as it is a "purchase" and not any other type of debit. What comes to mind as ineligible would be certain casinos or lotto booths, not sure what else.

Considering signing up, are there any other bonuses right now through a 3rd party credit card rating app or anything?

For those wondering about waiting for their cashback before cancelling... I called in to cancel after my year was up and the CS was super nice and refunded me the whole $120 renewal fee. She said I'm within 90 days so I would get a full refund. Charged $120 early October, received my 1st year's cashback payment early November. Called to cancel today, early December. I was expecting a pro-rated refund so this is a pleasant surprise. I know some people were unaware of pro-rated refunds or not sure how it would play out, so here you go.

BTW; For me this card paid out $350. Thanks OP.

$60 HIS signup instant cashback
$60 Nov 2020 regular cashback pmt
$175 march 10% promo cashback
$55 Nov 2021 regular cashback pmt
Cancelled w/no fee
