With this Scotia Visa card, if you fill your gas at Shell using the Shell Pay app, you get 4% cash back. It counts as a recurring bill item for some strange reasons. So, effectively, you are getting 4% from gas, grocery and recurring bills. I love this card. If I didn't switch jobs to a different bank, I would have kept this card.

I like this card, its part of my credit card combo. I've successfully used it to cover a broken phone (Mobile Device Insurance)

Can't stack the GCR and $150 amazon though right? Cuz you'd be applying from 2 different websites.

I have this card as my daily card. My biggest gripe with it is that Walmart is not considered a grocery store.

Love this card! I buy thousands worth of gift cards every year at my local grocery store to get 4% back. I know I'm giving up the extra year insurance though the credit card but have only used that service once in the last 10 years.

Max 4% cashback is on the first $25000 spent per year.

Yes, no doubt this card is great.

Also, you can check the BMO cashback MasterCard world elite for a 5% CB on grocery.

Funny I still have this BMO card lol but I closed my chequing last year. Unfortunately 5% cashback on grocery for this card is capped at $500 spent per billing cycle and that's REALLY BAD. Recurring is only 2% too.

Wow that is smart! What grocery stores give you 4% back on gift cards?

Thanks OP. Applied. I have way too many credit cards and half of them are not used. I have started to close them down and hope to get deals in a few years and re-apply to them.

Pretty much every grocery store except Walmart. I believe only on MasterCard are Walmart SUPERCENTERS considered grocery.

I got rejected for this card last year and they couldn't tell me why. wouldn't mind getting it for the gift card but i'm not sure i'd be approved this time around.

You can check on VISA's website for what is considered a grocery store and what's not. Walmart, Superstore, and Costco do not, as far as I remember, because they do sell other non-grocery items. Costco doesn't accept Visa anyways, so for that, we usually default to my wife's capital one master card. We shop at HMart and T&T quite a bit too so this works there. Save ons, Sobeys, Safeway are "grocery stores".

Superstore has the correct merchant code on Visa.

One time I used my Tangerine MasterCard at Costco it shows up as grocery on my statement but only earned the regular 0.5%.

This card is great. I got it in mid-august and made $450 cash back in 3 months (the cashback is always deposited on November's statement). Also just got $165 from the 10% bonus deposited last month
