You can just get both, and cancel the one you don't want to keep before the end of the FYF.

Personally I have both cards and decided to keep them.

Anyone know if you can get a SUB if you've had this card before (>2yrs ago)?

Not a real AMEX card. Do not expect even half decent customer service. They are polite - but hands are tied by scotiabank. This is a Scotia bank card. Definitely do not expect to benefit or make use of their 'sexy on paper' insurance coverage. Just churn and burn.
Speaking from first hand experiences - had the card for years only because I didn't know about the amex platinum card and other SUB perks.

Beware: scotiabank = terrible customer experience

I'm on a similar but slightly lower previous offer on the Scotia Gold. The way I approach it is if you hit MSR in the 5X cat, you get 35% on $1,000 and 8% on subsequent $6,500.

If you do 15 PP reloads you are still netting about $775 after fees (>10% on $7,500).

Sounds like anyone who's ever had any Scotiabank card can already rule this out. Boo

I got the Scotia Gold in April and received the 30K SUB while already holding another Scotia credit card. YMMV.

Can anyone confirm that you get the bonus points 2-3 business days after you meet your minimum spend (eg. if you spent $7500 on July 5th, you get get the points by July 8th), and not 2-3 business days after the year ends?

It's soon after hitting the minimum spend. I say soon because it took a little longer than 3 business days for my credit to show, however it was still less than a week.

Yea I'm with Scotiabank only due to cc benefits. Their customer service is horrendous.

Yep pretty much the same song they have been singing for the past few years. Any retail blah blah card.

How long have you been holding the first Scotia before you applied for the one in April that you also got the SUB for? I applied for my first Scotia Gold at the end of April and if there are positive dps on getting multiple SUBs for Scotia Amex in a short time frame, I might even apply for this one just before the offer expires.

If they are polite then they are already 10000x better than average Scotiabank service. They rolled their eyes on me when I pointed out that there was extra charges on Scotiabank credit card. They also treated me like a criminal when I wanted to withdraw $5k from my account and also charged me monthly fees when I had 400k on my savings account when they were running bonus interest promotion. I also still haven't seen my sign up bonus I was supposed to be paid two years ago despite calling them multiple times and even seeing their financial advisor. They are absolutely the worst bank when it comes to service and keeping the end of their bargain.
