Offer Eligibility and Exclusions: Individuals who are currently or were previously primary or secondary cardholders of a Scotiabank retail credit card in the past 2 years, including those that switch from an existing Scotiabank retail credit card, as well as employees of Scotiabank, are not eligible for the Offer. Subject to the above exclusions, Scotiabank small business credit cardholders are eligible for the Offer.

Bonus Point Offer Description and Conditions: To qualify for the 30,000 bonus Scotia Rewards points (the “Bonus Offer”), you must have at least $1,000 in eligible purchases posted to your new Scotiabank Passport Visa Infinite credit card account (“Account”) within the first 3 months. Eligible purchases include purchases (less any refunds, returns or other similar credits) but do not include payments, cash advances (including balance transfers, Scotia® Credit Card Cheques or cash-like transactions), interest, fees or other charges. The 30,000 Bonus Offer points will be credited to the primary cardholder’s Scotia Rewards account within approximately 2-3 business days following the qualifying $1,000 in eligible purchases being posted to your Account within 3 months from the Account open date, provided the Account is open and in good standing. The Account is considered in good standing if it is not past due or over limit and the Cardholder(s) is not in breach of the Revolving Credit Agreement that applies to the Account. Bonus Offer applies to new Accounts only opened by October 31, 2021.

Annual Fee Waiver Offer Description and Conditions: We will waive the initial annual fee for the primary card and each additional supplementary card on the Account for the first year only.

5X Scotia Rewards Points on Travel Offer Description and Conditions: You will earn 5 Scotia Rewards points per $1 charged to the Account for eligible purchases in Canadian currency at merchant locations classified as Travel within the first 3 months of the Account open date (the “Promotional Period”) up to $2,500 in total travel purchases. After the Promotional Period, you will earn 1 Scotia Reward point for every CAD$1 spent on eligible Travel purchases. You will earn the accelerated Scotia Rewards points (5X) under the Scotia Rewards Program (the “Program”) if you make purchases in Canadian currency only. For purchases that are made in foreign currency, you will only earn 1 Scotia Rewards point for every $1 charged to the Account once that foreign currency has been converted into Canadian dollars. The accelerated earn rate applies to purchases made at Visa merchants in the Travel category and recognized by our systems with the Merchant Category Codes or identifiers: airlines & air carriers, airports, flying fields, and airport terminals; lodgings, hotels, motels and resorts, trailer parks and campgrounds; steamship and cruise lines; travel agencies and tour operators, automobile rental agency, motor home and recreational vehicle rentals. These Merchant codes/identifiers and categories are subject to change. Some merchants may sell these products/services or are separate merchants who are located on the premises of these merchants, but are classified by Visa in another manner, in which case this Offer would not apply. The regular 1X Travel points will be credited shortly after a debit transaction for a purchase has been posted to the Account. The additional 4X Travel points will be credited to the Account within 60 days.

Spend $40,000 to get a $100 bonus? Fat chance. That's a 0.25% return on investment. The only thing worse is the Scotiabank Momentum savings account that pays 0.05% interest.

It's spend $1k for $300 in travel and $100 in Amazon. Spending another $39k for another $100 in travel is optional.

Notes about this card:

1. If you get a Scotiabank Ultimate account with 5000$ always in your account, Scotia will cover the annual cost every year.

2. As of July 1st, they removed the 90 days price matching from the benefits (sorry RFD)

3. As of July 1st, they removed travelling companions from their travel insurance. (Only spouses and dependents are now eligible)

I suspect this is a last push before they start devaluating the card more. It happens with all he good ones. This Card is ok, but The American express platinum is going to be better if you can spend enough for the points offer.

Is this strictly enforced? I think a lot of people here have or had the Scotia cashback card.

YMMV but they tend to not enforce this. I've held the cashback and gold amex card in the past half year and have gotten the wb each time, just applied for and was approved for the passport VI today.

They also decreased the travel medical insurance for those 65 & older from 10 days to 3. 10 days was reasonable to cover both quick USA trips when we can go again & a chunk of longer flights (with option to extend) but 3 days is only useful for short cross border trips.

I still see it in the legal footnotes on the link provided here and at the top of the page.

"Annual Fee Waiver Offer Description and Conditions: We will waive the initial annual fee for the primary card and each additional supplementary card on the Account for the first year only."

YMMV. I was unlucky when they promoted Momentum Infinite last December.

Is there a way to check if I'm eligible for the welcome bonus? I signed up for the card but I also have a scene visa card that I have had for 10 years+. Is it worth calling in to confirm or should I charge $1000 and see what happens?

Applied for one of these and Scotia opened two accounts. Should I keep both and try to get the WB on both or get them to cancel one? So far having a hard time trying to get their phone reps to cancel one of them.
