Just saw this last night

2000 Optimum points if you buy a $50 Netflix GC

I'm going to buy a couple and get some the points for paying for my Netflix for a year.

I'm also going to use my PC World MC to get another 3% back on the purchase. I figure it totals about 10% value back.

Buy iTunes cards at 15-20% discount, use an iDevice to subscribe to Netflix. Cheaper.

Further explanation on how to do this?

Is this only for new subscribers?

I've only ever paid via the Netflix website. Do they accept payment through itunes?

I only just found about this as well.
You will have to cancel your existing Netflix membership and sign up new on an Apple device.
Now that my grandfathered membership is going up from 7.99 to 9.99, I have the incentive to do this

Cancel, and then re-subscribe using the same account. I think you get to keep your history.

And with this...
Sobeys currently has an Air Miles promo.
Spend 50$ on itunes gift cards and get 60 Air Miles Reward Miles. (ends tomorrow 06/16)

Better than nothing if there's no % off itunes cards deal at the moment

Yup, this is what I do. Keep in mind however, Apple charges you tax on the subscription, Netflix doesn't. It still comes out cheaper for me as I stock up on iTunes cards when they're 25% off plus my credit card cashbacks (1.5-2%).

So if you dont get ithem on sale, it's actually more expensive to do it with itunes then...

Exactly... Here in Quebec after GST and PST, it comes up to $11.49 monthly. You really need to get iTunes cards on sale for this. It's even better if there's other things you spend iTunes cash on like apps, iCloud, Apple Music etc.

Actually Costco sells the $100 pack for $89.99 regular price and $79.99 when it's on sale.

You can always use an AB/NT/NU/YT "billing" address ;)

Hmm... I do something similar for my Hulu account, yet I've never thought of this for my Canadian account. Lol, thanks!

So tax on itunes payments vs no tax direct through Netflix means I'd need at least 13% savings on itunes card value to break even .. or better than about 23% savings to beat this SDM deal

I guess I'll start to keep an eye on itunes GC values but they'd have to be 30% discount or better to make it worth switching .. and at a total cost of about $150 per year for Netflix, I'm not sure it's worth the effort

Are you saying that Netflix charges $9.99 including HST or whichever sales' tax applies? That is odd as they charge sales' tax in the US.

do you have to cancel and re-sign up each year in order to use this discount each time your netflix subscription runs out?
We're all in this together. Be kind and civil with one another
