[Newegg] Seagate Barracuda 8TB - $170

Image

Same price as if you bought one for shucking, except you don't need to shuck and get to keep the 1 year2 years warranty.

Once there was a real deal in front of me I did not cherish. Not until it went OOS did I learn to regret. There's no greater sorrow. If heavens would grant me another chance I would buy buy buy. If I must put down a quantity, I hope it is 10000

$21.25/TB

Seagate's external expansion drives go on sale for $200 for 10TB often which is a better price per TB and you usually get a better drive. I normally find ironwolf but have had friends also get EXOS drives but ymmv

I know, but you lose the warranty, and I didn't enjoy shucking drives. I tend to hurt my fingernails doing it.

Some of the drives inside have original warranties apparently, up to 4 of their original 5 years.

That seems fair. You bought an external drive with 1 year warranty, so that's all you're entitled to. It might show the internal drive as having 5 years warranty or whatever but that wasn't really guaranteed in the first place.

Great, I want to improve my gaming PC.

I'm running 2 SN850 512GB, one for the OS and the second as caching, the games will be installed on the 8TB drive.

With 512GB caching, the performance should be awesome.

SMR Drive so no shucking in NAS, etc
https://www.seagate.com/ca/en/internal- ... -smr-list/

Also, it's from Badegg/Oldegg. Anything goes wrong and they wont help you. Not to mention all the pricing scams they pull. The 90s wants this crap of a store with mail in rebates, S&H, etc back

Costco one, even at FULL price of 184.99 is better plus you get epic costco service if something goes wrong:

No, its not fair to revoke a warranty simply because you wanted your data back and their USB adapter failed. No.
