second best dishwasher?

hi everyone

I had a bosch 800 dishwasher ordered that was supposed to be in by march, however with everything that's been going on, the ETA is now august

I am going to be cancelling this order and find something else that is more readily available...

can you guys recommend another brand of dishwasher?

I have never owned one and never used one... if it makes some noise that won't be a dealbreaker, just looking for another high quality brand or model

thanks!

You want a fairly quiet dishwasher. I'm currently working at the kitchen table because it's far brighter than my basement office and the dishwasher is running across the room without bothering me.

I always read Consumer Reports before buying major appliances. Your property taxes are already likely paying for an online subscription through your public library that you can access from home with your library card.

I have the base model Miele and it is very quiet and works well. My old dishwasher was from the early 90's, a Kitchenaid that sounded like a jet taking off when in use.

Whirlpool dishwashers can be had from Costco within a couple of weeks. Costco gives standard 2 year warranty and extended warranties are low cost. My appliance repair buddy tells me it is the brand he gets the least amount of calls for.

From my experience, Bosch is the brand to go for, but check Consumer Reports. Vancouver Library has a login for their articles, so do a lot of other libraries

Do you need to go a VPL location to read them? or you can just get the log in info from the VPL website?

Should be accessible online.

Check around, some places have stock and some places don't.

I blame wfh.

I mean, no offense, you had the second best ordered.

If you wanna call something other than Miele the number 1, then fine. Buy Miele as the "second best" and never look back.

Thermador's are Bosch in disguise but even pricier. Miele's are good.

If it's a Miele you want, get your order in by 7 March (and the 5 yr warranty promo expires after that day IIRC). Prices going up next day.

Miele is at least as good as Bosch but costs an absolute fortune. Everything Miele makes is good, it’s just expensive (at times somewhat unnecessarily so). If you can pony up for Miele, then it’s a viable option.

There are plenty of other perfectly good brands though. Most dishwashers can clean dishes and be quiet in their midrange models and up.

I would agree with others that Miele has an edge over Bosch. Our Miele dw is now 12 years old and it replaced a (made in Germany) 10 year old Bosch. I wouldn't hesitate to buy either brand but I will give the nod to Miele for performance and to Bosch for price.

That being said, I ordered a top of the line Miele dw late in 2020 during a free 10 year warranty promotion. They called back to tell me that the wait time was 3-6 months. I cancelled the order and decided to wait until the whole supply chain chaos got sorted out.

Still waiting...

Sorry to hear of your woes.
I have a range on backorder and it's been over a year.
Have you looked at costco?
costco bosch
IIRC they only list what they have in stock/available. so if you see it you can buy it.
Should have some comparable options for you unless you need a panel ready unit

edit: though unless you -really- need a dishwasher right away, you might as well wait since I would guess the price on the one you are waiting for is less than current pricing available.
Keep on doing the dishes by hand for now. ( I was in the same situation with the dishwasher too. never had one before so didn't mind waiting)

We were looking at the Bosch 800 from Costco for $2100, but delivery was 3 weeks out and our current 800 series (15 Y.O.) had died. We bought a Meile G 5006 SCU for $1650 https://www.miele.ca/en/c/dishwashers-2 ... G_5006_SCU and picked it up from the warehouse in Calgary the next day. We're happy with it so far.

Thank you all for the replies

I contacted the closest Miele dealer and ordered a 5006 u. It is just a couple hundred more than the Bosch 800 and I am getting it by the end of the month!
