Selling a property with a flexible/far away closing date?

Hi All,

With the crazy housing market today and people making offers with crazy over asking and no inspection, I'm wondering if there is such a thing as selling your property with a flexible/far away from closing date?

I bought a newly built home and it won't be ready for another year. I'm wondering if there is such a thing as putting it on the market today and having a closing date for 12 months to 18 months from now? I'm thinking it would be attractive to me since I get to capitalize on the current hot market and it may be attractive to current buyers who are flexible who'd rather lock today's prices in rather than seeing the market spike another few percentage points.

Anyone seen this being done? Is this even possible?

So many things could change or go wrong during 1+ year period, I wouldn't commit myself to such purchase... I think it's best that you rent if you really want to sell your house now. Plus your new home could easily get delayed more.
