Thread Summary
To get a free coffee:
1) Place an order for at least $0.50 on the Tim Hortons mobile app. Note that to place an order via the app you must load a Tim Card (initial load minimum $5.00) if you have not already done so. You cannot transfer an existing balance from a physical Tim Card until you have activated your digital one in-app with a $5.00 minimum load.
2) Add any size coffee to your order.
3) Proceed to checkout. The total should show the coffee purchase fully discounted.
4) Proceed to Tim Hortons to pick up your order.

Notes:
- You can rinse-and-repeat (get multiple free coffees) by making multiple orders, but each order must be separated by 30+ minutes. If you order sooner than that, subsequent orders will not show the discount/rebate on the coffee.
- For regular users of the Timmies app, be sure to turn off your rewards redemption (enable "Bank my rewards") or you may accidentally redeem points for a coffee instead of getting your Coffee Day freebie.

Fine Print:
*Redeem one free any size coffee, including all roasts (excluding espresso-based beverages) with an eligible purchase (min. order $0.50 CAD) made through the Tims Rewards app. Coffee must be added to the checkout basket for offer to apply. Limit one (1) per eligible purchase per person per thirty (30) minute period. If there are multiple coffee beverages in a basket, the offer applies to the higher-priced coffee. At participating restaurants in Canada. Cannot be combined with any other deal, combo or offer. No cash value or substitutions. Not for resale. Further terms and conditions apply. See website or app for more details. Valid only on: Sep 29 2020. ©Tim Hortons, 2020

i'm not a regular tims customer... but have taken a look at their app...

not a fan of having to load money on to a tims card (minimum $5) in order to pay for a purchase using the app.
ie - can't just pay with a credit card for any denomination.
'cuz i really don't need $4.50 stuck on a tims card, after i've spent 50c for a free coffee...
but i guess that's tims business savy.

otherwise that is a good offer for coffee day. thanks OP.

Surprised they haven't started paying people to take their coffee.

Can you redeem it twice from same cell phone/apps ? ie: Breakfast and Lunch?

Thanks OP. Anybody can tell me how it works? I did it wrong last time when they had similar offer, end up paying for the regular price for the coffee. So in app I order something and add a coffee (what size?), when check out, the coffee will show as free? Thanks.

Order something through app and you'll get a free coffee in a day or so to redeem. You have to load a timcard into your account before the mobile order.

That's not how it works at all on multiple levels.

Firstly, this offer doesn't have to be loaded as it's applicable to all users, secondly the offer is applied immediately.

You have to add something worth more than 50 cents to your mobile order and then add an any size coffee (doesn't include espresso based beverages). When you go to checkout the coffees should be subtracted at the bottom and say "Reward savings" and you will only have to pay for your other item. You can see it if has worked prior to payment and ordering.

Yes this is the correct process, you should be able to see prior to ordering / payment if it has worked.

Terms say any size is valid "Redeem one free any size coffee, including all roasts (excluding espresso-based beverages) with an eligible purchase (min. order $0.50 CAD) made through the Tims Rewards app."

Starbuck's "Coffee Day" promo excludes regular coffee which is dumb.

It's not a coupon, you're supposed to order the coffee at same time and it makes it free instantly.
