I definitely recommend calling Shaw and speaking with the customer retention department. My contract with them expires in January, and they've agreed to give me $50 per month for Internet 300. And it's month to month. No contract lock-in.

Are you sure those prices are not for the first 6 months only? I was called by Telus last week and offered a deal thats nowhere that good after 6 months are over.

I recently signed a 24 month contract for Internet 300 @ 85/month with Shaw. I don't understand how you guys are getting these deals? I've already called into retentions and they mentioned not having anything else available at the moment, but to call in on Boxing Day and they were willing to match any special promos. Speed tests are also maxing out at 300Mbps.

no. was not on a contract, was on telus 50 for $60/12 month under a different discount due to a mistake they made in the past. but guess i am on a contract now.

also, i called in again because i didnt see shaw was also offering 250 credit. person first said they can match $150, but then changed to saying that they will "try" to match it but they have to send in a support ticket, and will call me back tomorrow. person on the phone said they shouldnt decline to match, but guess i will see how that goes.

i think a big part might be if optic fibre was installed in ur area recently.

Ouch, really? I just called and said Telus was offering $50 per month and so they needed to do the same. At first they said the best they could do was $55/month on a 24-month contract. I pushed back a bit, he put me on hold, and then he offered $50 per month with no contract.

I guess it really depends on who you get connected to.
There is a $700 credit being offered ($500 visa+ $200 credit) on the boxing week website: https://www.telus.com/en/deals-and-bundles/boxing-day

But I was offered only $300 bill credit with $55 for 150/150 for 6 months and then going up to $110 after but that is not good enough.

Lots of these reps hide the fact that the deal is only for 6 months. I suspect lots of people here are not asking for details and will end up paying double at the end of 6 months.

For those going to shaw, they are offering a pretty sweet deal, but be aware they will increase your costs over time and will offer minimal incentives to keep existing customer.

They are just trying to win back customers they lost through agressive promotion. Don't confuse this with caring about customers.

Telus is not without faults, but they always try to fix issues and do value customers.
