If your garage is unheated, exterior acrylic latex. Better mold and mildew resistance. If you keep cars in garage the melting snow/ice leaves moisture in the space.

I just completed my garage using Duration Satin finish. Really good coverage, easy to work with, looks great.
Think, I'll do the same. I have a rough finish in my new-build houses garage.

1. What sort of primer should I use? Would any primer work, or do I need to also go with sherwin williams primer?
2. For the garage did you do 1 or 2 coats?

What's a good paint to use on the outside of the garage door, as well as front door?

I just bought the primer suggested by the store. Had it tinted same colour as paint (Big Chill).

Could have likely done only one coat with the tinted primer, but for an extra few hours and $50 I did 2 coats. Not like I'm going to paint the garage again anytime soon, may as well do a good job the first time and it will hold up.

2 car garage bought 3 gallons primer, 4 cans paint. Have about 1/2 can each leftover.

Suggest using gel stain instead. Minwax is a good option and many videos online showing how to do it and end results.

Gel stain is non-drip and sticks to many surfaces.

Do they make quality exterior paint?

Emerald exterior is an excellent choice for outdoors.

For anyone grabbing this deal and has an Amex, check your offers in the app. I stumbled upon an offer for $25 statement credit after $100 (after tax) spend at Sherwin Williams. I bought a gallon of primer, a gallon of Emerald, and two cans of spray paint for 52% off by stacking 40% off, $10 off $50 coupon, and the $25 statement credit. You can maximize your savings by spending as close to $165 pre-tax, pre-discount as you can. If you want the calcs, let me know and I will post.

I confirmed that my friend also received the Sherwin Williams offer in the app, so it is not specific to me, and I already received my credit on the account. It expires June 30th and is valid for one-time use

Pro tip - When the coupons are over, just find a local contractor and say you are with them - get the contractor rate.
Another pro tip: if you are not n a rush for painting never buy Sherwin Williams paint at regular price. They run a 40% sale every once and then. IT is their third 40% sale within the last 2 months.

anyone have any input on cashmere low lustre vs emerald?

seems like the former is more forgiving to beginners so that's alluring.

Thank you, just installed the app and see the $25 credit when you spend $100. These offers only available on the phone app?

Could you post the $165 calculations? Does ray include the $10 stacking?

"To be eligible for a $25(CAD) statement credit, a qualifying purchase of $100(CAD) or more in a single transaction, after taxes, must be charged to your registered Card in store at a participating Sherwin-Williams location in Canada during the offer period and subsequently posted to your account by 02/07/2019. "
