Shipping Sanitizer/Wipes to Relative (International)

I have a senior relative who is isolated in the UK and having trouble getting access to sanitary supplies (hand sanitizer, disinfecting wipes, etc). I was considering shipping her some hand sanitizer, 1 box of lysol wipes, lysol spray, and a homemade mask as a last measure.

I know there are restrictions around shipping alcohol-based products or liquids. Has anyone been able to successfully and economically ship these items internationally? Were you/the receiver hit with any duties?

I am in the same boat.

Unfortunately I don't think you can send alcohol based hand sanitiser to the UK (but you could do internally). Sounds like you may already have looked at the Royal Mail website ?

https://personal.help.royalmail.com/app ... il/a_id/96

Expanding the section "alcohol" ...

"Alcoholic beverages and liquids containing more than 24% but not more than 70% alcohol by volume (ABV) (e.g. gin, rum, vodka, whisky)

International - Not allowed in the mail
UK - Allowed in the mail, with restrictions and packaging guidelines below"

If you find there is a safe way to send, please update this thread.

Thanks!

Since soap is more effective than hand sanitizer why all the hype? If your relative is staying home, soap is the best. Use hand sanitizer in emergency situations where there is no access to running water.

Not sure what gave you the impression that she is staying home 24-7. She is isolated (i.e. by herself) but still needs to do groceries, like anybody else.

If you look hard enough, there's often still places selling it at inflated prices. She's probably off buying it at those prices then you sending it to her.

Sorry. The clue word was "senior".

Why not try to talk her through some DIY methods? A lot of the ingredients that Lysol has are readily available for many.

By the time you ship it from Canada, the prices will start to look good. Who knows how long airmail will take these days: there's a lot less transatlantic cargo space available than there used to be.
