Shoes arrived perfect except for a little bit of leather ripple on the toe box (left shoe). I'm not going to to send them back as I've waited over a year for these. Construction is nice and the last is a little less forgiving. Guess because all of my shoes are on alden barrie, these are definitely slimmer. Shell is somewhat dry like everybody says.

Been wearing them for a week or so and they are my favourite shoes. Can't wait to see how they age.
Need to post some pics!!

I want to get a pair casual suede chukka. The unlined Alden chukka is the ideal choice but I don't know my size and they are not cheap.
I sold my RW Beckman chukka that I rarely wear, so I feel less guilty. Also, I got this new pair at the lower price due to pricing error on their website.

Like you, I am also eyeing the Alden snuff suede chukka. But at $500+ USD before FX, I still have not managed to convince myself. I think I will be chukka-out after that. :)

I was hoping Leatherfoot will bring Alden to the store so I can at least try out the size. Lost and Found is a bit out of the way for me.

I was there last week, they said they will be carrying and focusing on four brands: John Lobb, Saint Crispins, Carmina, Alden (will be arriving)

Irbe wrote: So far all of my Alden have been fine. No issues minus the speed hook starting to come off from my alden x jcrew cordo boots. Nobody has mention this as being a common defect and Jcrew happily took it back.

I would still continue to buy Alden and CJ for something a little more sleeker.
Case in point.

I'm aware of QC issues with Alden, but again that hasn't turned me off from the shoe. If it gets to something like Wolverine 1K boot maybe I would stop buying.

Neither Get Outside nor Gravity Pope carry them. JCrew has them but don't ship to Canada. East Dane carries them but with duties and whatnot, it is close to $170.
Of all places, I found these in The Bay Queen St store at $100 - $5 higher than the US price of $95 USD.

I have a pair of RRL Powell and AE Amok each that fill the gap of tan suede chukka.

Even though I have a pair of Meermin snuff suede, I find it too formal. I am back to looking for a more casual pair with flex sole. The new AE Mojave 2 might just fit the bill. Full pop at $350 USD is more than I'd pay, I will wait for Shoebank or clearance.
