It's the older style card reader. Swipe only. Yes, allows you to accept credit card payments. Square takes the processing fee (3% or so).
Run the app on your phone, plug reader into mic/headphone jack, swipe card.

Just remember that it's not CHIP + PIN, so you are responsible for any fraud (i.e. you eat the loss). Square makes a tap/CHIP reader. It's a lot more expensive.

I think we all missed the minus in the price. Pay $2.99 + tax, get $10 credit back.

-3% to use that $10 credit?
If the women don't find you handsome, they should at least find you handy.

I always wonder how they work with the headphone jack.

Bright side of RFD: Often find good deal
Dark side of RFD: Tons of stuff that I don't need but still got them because of RFD

Over $100,000 in sales using the swipe before the chip reader was developed and not a single case of fraud.

Bought the chip reader as soon as it came out and it's particularly wonderful now that they've permitted the use of debit cards without tap.

I've seen Square reps giving out the chip readers for free btw.

I saw the Square Chip/Tap readers go for $30 (I think) on Amazon a bit over a week or so, probably around BF or so. The swipe reader was always free to begin with, but stores would sell it for $10 and you would get $10 back from Square.

If the stores sold it for less than $10, any difference from the $10 that they'll pay you is your profit (+ any CC rewards, but most of the time is negligible).
