Go for the Switch? Or wait for the new OLED one? I have been saving up my points for the switch and have hit 200000 points.

Thoughts?

It could take a bit of time for the OLED model to show up on SDM, especially to have it available online, they usually a bit behind on electronics imo

I'm doing the same. Gonna wait on OLED. Which will likely take a few months after launch. Might buy an older model if they price drop enough.

Might also wait for the 250k redemption black Friday / Christmas.

Question - for those of you that shop at PC Optimum stores (Loblaws, No Frills, etc.) why would you purchase expensive things during this event instead of the 20x point event?

The way I see it, points are basically like cash for those that regularly shop at stores where they can be redeemed. At the highest tier of this event ($300 for 200k points) you are essentially getting 33% off, which is slightly better than the 30% during the 20x event. However, if the purchase is over $333, it seems you would be better off making the purchase during the 20x event.

I'm asking because I purchased a pair of AirPods Pro with the 20x points promotion and have 100k points saved up, and I want to make sure I'm not overlooking anything by spending the points on groceries rather than during this event.

It can be hard to spend $300 on every day items…

A few times a year you’ll get a bonus redemption with a 20 times that will stack.

Because you HAVE to redeem points someday or you will die with a Billion points. The question is do you redeem with no bonus at Loblaws, No Frills, etc. or do you redeem with a bonus at SDM for something that is on special and that you need anyway.

It's also a matter of point of view. For some, redeeming 200,000 points for a $300 rebate is a discount of 33% on what they buy while others see a 50% bonus on their points.

Many fighting arguments have been started over this in SDM threads. My intention is NOT to start one here.

Everyone views the program differently. Some view it as sitting money and they want it out immediately. Others want the best bang for the buck and go crazy spending on 20X. Others keep accumulating as a rainy day fund and redeem "one day."

If you view them as equals, purchasing on 20X IS probably the better option for big purchases, but each person should have their own game plan.

Personally, as an Optimum hoarder, I've chosen to redeem my points in small batches. I usually redeem for $65 in groceries for the 50k bonus, sometimes more. Beats getting nothing at the grocery store. Also beats holding onto them for the "what if" purchase, which I still have enough for lol

If you need to use them though and Shoppers is too expensive for you, spend them at the grocery store. Only paying taxes is nice.

I agree. Spending $300 all at once at SDM is impossible for me; SDM has almost nothing I want or need. I'll just take the $200 in groceries please.
These points bonus promos are good for RFDers who do find good stuff at SDM though.
