I have this and the sound is okay but I'm not impressed at all with the battery life - I have to recharge it frequently

I have the previous version (JBL Charge 2 or 3?). The sound is great and I haven't had an issue with the battery, but newer isn't always better. I picked one up as I can't resist a clearout deal. No idea what Shopper's return policy is like, I never purchase electronics from them.

The linkability of these things are wicked. This is a GREAT deal. If you can get 2 or more, or have other JBLs already, the surround sound is awesome.

I've had one of these for a few years and I'm pretty happy with the purchase! Battery life and sound quality both seem decent to me. The one annoying thing about it is that it makes a noise on startup and shutdown that I haven't figured out any way to disable. Tempted to get another one at this price if there are any nearby.

Yep. it works VERY well. Its not like linking 2 bluetooths to your phone where one goes out of sync. They stay in sync, and its awesome.

... Maybe Charge4 means charge 4 times a day lol.

Bad jokes aside, I have the charge 3 and I fully agree with you on the battery life. Sound quality does suffer compared to others, because of the waterproofing. At this price it's a good buy. A hot deal if you value that it's waterproof + from a big brand name.

I've had the JBL Charge 3 since late 2016 and it was great, super loud (like realistically no one should ever have it on max volume unless you want to be a french shower) and great battery life.

Sometime in the last few months the speakers blew so anything above a certain volume would start crackling; plus the battery life dropped like a rock (from over a week to every other day).

Works out to be around $50/year to own/use it when bought full price (I think I got it on sale though).

$70 for a charge 4 would be like 13/yr if it lasts as long as the 3 did; definitely a much better deal.

OP where originally did you spot this? I've been at 4 different places, Nepean, Ottawa and there is no deal like this.

Shoppers drug marts don't even have consistent inventory between stores, let alone clearance. The only place you'll be able to get this is at the exact store OP went to (unless he took the last one).

All experiences are anecdotal but, mine with the JBL Charge 3 is unbelievable. It sounds AMAZING for any bluetooth speaker I have ever used/heard. Also partied with this thing many cottage weekends and it would power the party outside from noon till 1am (12-13 hours) on typical party music levels and it would still be at 3/4 battery life (5 power indicator LEDs and 4 or 3 would still be lit).

*If* the JBL 4 is anywhere near as close as quality to the JBL 3, it is worth every cent at full price.

The high water resistance rating is just the icing on the cake.

Wish this clearance sale was near me.

I found the sound and battery life of the Soundcore Motion+ to be better. That being said, if I could find this deal in stock I’d probably get it.

Yeah no idea what those other guys are on about. This is an awesome speaker, fully waterproof, great sound and battery life. I get 20-30+ hours easy, granted a lot is audiobooks so it’s not pushed hard, but it’s also out in all weather (bike speaker).

If I could find one for this price I’d buy another instantly

Think I have a Charge 2 or one of those. The "soft" plastic on it is gummy now and I absolutely hate this soft plastic. Seriously considered getting the JBL Go3 which was $35 over the holidays. It's a smaller unit, waterproof, has a loop tether and supposedly sounds even better than these barrel ones.

If the barrel one I have was broken, I'd replace it with an even more portable unit like the JBL Go 3...size matters when you're on the "Go". There's a Kijiji ad for brand new ones for $45 cash, no tax - you can search for it yourself. It's almost half the price of this if you factor in tax - buy two and link em.
