[Shoppers Drug Mart] Kashi Bars Box ~$1 with tax using PC Points Offers

Following is for a BOX of Kashi bars. There are usually 5 bars per box.

At SDM, Kashi Bars Box is $2.99 until 15JAN2021. There is a PC optimum offer for 4000pts for every $8 spent on Kashi Bars Box this week for everyone. There is also a 20x for spending above $50 or $75 in store offer starting on 15JAN2021 for shoppers. Following is an example that assumes that you are only buying kashi bars at SDM and not any other groceries like milk and have the 20x for $50 offer. Assuming that these two offers can be combined, it will end up being:

19 Boxes of Kashi Bars = 19x2.99x1.13 = $64.2
20x points: 19x2.99x15x20 = 17,043 pts
4000pts on every $8 = 7x4 = 28,000 pts
So it comes to $64.2-17-28 = 19.2/19 = $1.01/box

Some may also have a personal offer of 400pts for every $2 on kashi bars which will provide another 11,200pts which could get the price per box to $0.42 with tax.

I looked around and couldn't find any kashi bar box coupons or any CO51 offers that could combine with this. Kashi bars do go on sale between $1.99-$2.49 but this was the cheapest I found this week.

You don't include tax for "when you spend $x" And you don't use the word "box(es)" when you mean "bar(s)".

So your $1 bar ( but not 50 cents) is close, just mathed wrong. As the deal is basically pay $2.99 bar (really $2.09 considering 20x) and 50% back in points ($1.49) if you hit $8 multiples (tricky). So close to 60 cents a bar plus 39 cents in tax= 99 cents a bar. It will be more, as it's close to impossible to get perfect $8 multiples.

The sale price is $2.99 for a box of 5 bars

Is there any problem combining the two offers? The wording around the 20X promotion provides some limits around combining with other offers?

I was only going by the posting.

BTW, SDMs around here limit purchases to 4 of anything, so that alone means you'd only get one 4000 pts per $8 spend.

Wait so... it's $1 a box of 5, or $1 a bar? I am super confused here OP, your language is all over the place.

I'm assuming it's per box and the box has 5 bars in it

Combining with 20x is not realistic. Just picked up 3 boxes. 2.99*3 + tax ~ $10. Got 4120 points. Not too bad for $2 a box

My gf really like kashi without wheat. Could be a great deal if SDM could carry this flavor.

I updated the wording. Not sure why anyone would think its per bar. The pricing is per box and I didn't think sdm or any loblaws stores normally sells Kashi in per bar form

why is it not realistic? did you try? did you read the terms of the offers? What specifically makes you think they can't be combined? because historically with other products, it's not a problem, and when I read the 20x it says not combinable with department or total store offers. A Kashi bar is neither a department or total store. kashi offer doesn't say anything about not being combinable.

When I say realistic I mean are you going to buy 17 boxes??? Also many SDMs have limits on how many you can buy at a time.
if you want to buy other stuff to get the 20x that's fine but this post is about getting the Kashi bars at the cheapest rate possible

Not sure whats wrong with my math. Take total cost, add tax and subtract points earned. Also, they are not sold as single bars as far as I am aware.

My SDM has no such limits and also there are alteast 5 different types/flavors available if there is a 4 limit

I clearly mentioned in my original post that this is an example where you buy only the kashi bars boxes. You can get to $50 fairly easily by buying other grocery items ie eggs, milk, bread, juice which SDM prices similar to grocery stores. Don't have to buy 17-19 boxes to get this deal. If its not realistic for you to shop for other grocery items at SDM, then thats your situation. I can get to $50 pretty easily without buying 19 boxes of bars and get close to a multiple of 8. An example would be buying 6 boxes for $17.94 + tax (13%) = $20.27 - 5.38 (20x points if >$50 with other items) - 8 (4000/$8) = $1.15/box. I think thats pretty close to $1 still.

Guess you weren't around for the toblerone clearance deal or the lindt chocolate deal last year or numerous others. 17 boxes is not a lot for a family. That's only 85 bars. We often buy 2 boxes of bulk bars of various kinds at Costco which easily add up to 80 or more.

Anyways my misunderstanding.

Thanks OP!

But the 20 X point didn't show up when I bought 17 boxes.

I bought 6 boxes. It was a challenge to reach 50$ and i overspent a little with some bags of chips. Honestly, for me, the sweet spot of spending at SDM is max 30$. I guess every consumer is different but i always try to buy good stuff and i already got cream, eggs and bacon at home so the timing was not quite there. So honestly, i earned 20$ of points and half of that, i would not have bought normally so its not that bad. Edit:Did not received all my points...

put in a missing points inquiry. They advertise 20X in big bold letters on front page. They advertise 4k for every 8$ on another page in same flyer. 20x says cannot be combined with department or total store offers. Kashi coupon doesnt say cant be combined with 20x but has a vague max 4k. I call BS and put in an inquiry. If it doesn't combine, then specifically say it doesn't.
