If you have drifting controllers and pts that ebgames trade in or using sdm points makes sense for this newer unit.

20x day - $508.50 after tax, less $135 points = $373.50 out of pocket net cost

Shouldn't a 20x be 30% back? So $150 off the $450?

Yes it is. No, your math is wrong.

Same since my V1 is use in dock mode. I'll wait for the much rumored 4k console...

Just want to point out that the "out of pocket" cost is actually the full price of the console plus tax. The points are not cash, and 30% back in points is not the same as 30% off.

Yes, you have to have the entire out of pocket cost for the console. For some people with less disposable income, this will make the trade in deal better.

Any discussion with Optimum points on RFD is going to have people assuming you value the points the same as money. This is because points can be used at quite a few grocery stores. Almost everybody buys groceries weekly. The 135 dollars in points could be used very shortly after for groceries. Alternatively, if you are also in the market for games/accessories, there is nothing stopping you from redeeming the $135 in points right away and not having to hold on to them.

The only reason people hold on to points is because they get greater value through the bonus redemption or 40 percent back redemption promotions. They don't hold on to them because there is nothing to use them on. Overall, it is a pretty ridiculous program. It is basically an instant rebate of 30 percent on the pre-tax total that can be used right away at chains of grocery stores, or Shoppers.
I will tell my grandchildren about the deal I got on an HP Touchpad at the Bank street staples thanks to rfding.

Well.. people look at it differently. I treat my points as cash. When I shop at Superstore, and my bill total is $92.60.. I'll pay 90k points and put $2.60 on my card. The 90k points is the same as $90 cash.

They must be playing ball. Stock appears in between offers. All the families buying at 1:1 point ratio for their little angels early xmas pressie before stock runs out everywhere...

I think I'm doing the same despite having V2...I realize I really don't play in handheld mode as much so even if the trade-in when the newest Nintendo console is super low, I'll just deal with it then! I really hope Nintendo's next console is backwards compatible with Switch games...

They are still in stores here in Thunder Bay. I've asked friends if they want one but all of them have said no. I could pick one up with my senior's discount and keep the points but no takers...
