[Shoppers Drug Mart] SDM Y530 Gaming Laptop (not the Y520!) $899(-$450 Pts)

OKAY....I went to one SDM to get the PSVR Creed/Superhot Bundle for $319.99, not realizing that is an actual sale price and it is currently $449.99 and $319.99 tomorrow.....but I am out of town tomorrow.

So, I went to a different SDM (scouted them out last night)......they had a Lenovo Gaming Laptop in stock, but I wasn't overly interested as I puchased the Y520 last time using points etc...and it is set up and using it with WMR and it runs surprisingly well.

BUT.....I noticed the one in store is the Y530 which is the newer model with the 8th generation processor. I believe it will be much the same....newer housing, 8th gen CPU etc. etc. (I haven't opened it yet, and at work right now, so will dig in over lunch).

Sale price of $899.99 isn't terrible, with the $450 off using 300k points comes to a grand total of $568.12

More to come.....such a good deal, that I now have two gaming laptops.....arghh

Which GPU is included with it? I assume a 1050 or 1050 Ti?

Haven't opened it yet, from what I can tell from sticker....best guess is 1050 Ti …. essentially this years version of the previous model/sale. Slimmer profile, next gen cpu….everything else like identical.

Interesting. The email promo I got states it's Y520 so it could be YMMV. The other thing I am thinking is that it might still be better with the 20x points as it's essentially $270 back in points and could worth more during bonus redemption events like this. This one you get $150 bonus basically if you have 300,000 to redeem.

Yes, BUT, I wanted to use points......thus, the out of pocket cost is only $568.

Not to mention how difficult it will be to find one tomorrow when my 20x offer kicks in....not like you can pick and choose when to buy for a gaming laptop like this.

I will either sell the Y520, or maybe just keep both....undecided.

Agreed. I was thinking the same that it's good for out of pocket price for sure. $568 is a killer deal for Y530.

Also....IF lucky enough to find one tomorrow and have 20x offer.....I could have risked it.....

Redeem 300,000 points to get $450 off, after fees and taxes comes to $568

So would get 20x points on about $500 ON TOP of this deal......so about 100,000 more points

Would bring net cost down close to $450 TOTAL......that's nuts for a brand new gaming laptop like this.

GOT one -- YEE HA

Many Thanks to OP!

Merry Christmas!
That's awesome.....now I am on the hunt for a deal on WMR or Rift so I can add a third one to the arsenal and the kids and I can co-op multi-player.....going to be a fun Xmas for all...LoL

Or perhaps jump on PSVR for $320 tomorrow....I have 100k points left and 20x offer.....wondering if I can redeem a second time? Perhaps with my wifes card (we are joined...can you do that?)

Lol, you guys thought 300,000 points were free credits? No, they are $300. You actually paid $568+$300=$868 for the laptop.

Hot if this is a 1050 Ti otherwise pretty meh for just a regular 1050. Not sure why anyone who is the market for a gaming laptop would want just a plain ole 1050.

Never said 300,000 points were free. Quoted price was referring to out of pocket amount. If you had read my post prior, you'll see I did a comparison as well. Just stating out all the pros and cons.

Personally, I am more interested in this one: https://www.microsoft.com/en-ca/p/dell- ... verviewtab
