[Shoppers Drug Mart] Xbox Series S + bonus $50 SDM gift card for $379.99 (Apr 2-3)

decent deal for the xbox series s. add on whatever points bonus you might have in your account and it could be even better. if i can actually find a store with a console, i'm going to pick this up!

OP, you should put YMMV in your title as typically, each store gets 1-2 units if any.

How did you check the stock in store? Is there a stock checker website?

Not for xbox/ps5, have to either call or visit the stores

The official site has some stock tracking functionality, but it only works for a few items, and it is not live updating. You can use it instead to determine which stores could potentially have it, then call them.

There is no other stock tracking.

Now that XSX is more available, we'll see more deals on the XSS I think. I personally don't like digital consoles because reselling disc games can save money, but this is definitely a great deal for a nice 1440P console.

20x the points is a better deal, and the Series S is not that difficult to find at Shoppers. Points are basically the same thing as a gift card. You would get back $114 in points, which means you're leaving $64 of value on the table.

If you luck into getting a 20x the points offer that is available this weekend, then yes, red hot.

The only situation I can think of where this might make sense would be if you cannot afford to pay out of pocket, need to get an Xbox now, and have 380k points. You pay the tax, and get a $50 gift card back. Bonus redemption is still better, because you get $100 worth of extra value (redeem 200k for $300 off). There is also usually a 20x the points early in the week during bonus redemption flyers, so you could theoretically get 300 off for 176k net points (redeem 200k, get 24k back on the outstanding $80 pre-tax balance).

Basically, you could have received a hotter deal with 20x the points for the last month or two that Series S have regularly been in stock at Shoppers, and you wouldn't have to battle people for it because it wasn't on the front page of the flyer.
I will tell my grandchildren about the deal I got on an HP Touchpad at the Bank street staples thanks to rfding.

I doubt they would give you the gift card.

Even if they have some way to let you exchange the points for the gift card by returning it and re-buying it, why would you? 20x the points is basically the same as getting a $114 gift card. They are only offering a $50 gift card.

All the more power if you can convince them to do it, but I can't logically see why they would.

Anecdotally, I see them at Shoppers stores all the time. I don't think it is a super hot item. It's not like finding a PS5.

With that said, they will be difficult to find this weekend because people are going to get excited about this deal and buy them. If this was buy a Series S, get 50k points, no one would care even know it's the same thing. But the psychology of it being a gift card and not points gets people excited. Plus, it's advertised in prime space on the flyer.

If someone wants a Series S and has a 20x the points for today or tomorrow, but not for Saturday or Sunday, I'd just go out on Friday and buy one with the 20x the points. Better deal, and it would be more likely that a console would be in stock.

Got mine with bonus redemption, so if I remember right it was $379 plus $40 tax, so $420, minus $200 in points for $300 in redemption.

So $200 in points, $120 cash, total cost $320.
Pretty happy with that, basically a $299 console, likely the price ms expected for the series S by this point.

SDM is smart. I don't think anyone will have a 20x offer this weekend.

If you would have used a 20x offer at the same time, the $79 over redemption paid would have earned you another $24+ in points back.

In true rfd fashion, once you said that, I do recall earning 20x points on the $80. Forgot about that.....

Isn't is a law that consumers don't have to return promo items (eg gift cards) if you purchase and return product?
Interested if anyone knows about this consumer law ( not about getting a free gift card).

Why would that be a law? If it were no corporation would ever offer a freebie with any purchase as itd just bring out all the low lifes.

I'm not a lawyer, but I'm going to say that's most definitely not a law, lol.

At best, maybe they will allow product return, but minus the promo item value, as you may have already opened or used it, or it's too difficult to be verified, as unused.

You may not have to return it too, but then you'd be charged $50 for the promo card.

I assume your post was an April Fools joke?
