Shopping for electronics in US?

Is it worth it?

If so, what are the best places to go (not too far from GTA)?
Without driving more then say 600km, are there any states with notably lower sales tax?
Is there a way to get around paying taxes when bringing it back, aside from hiding it? Like bringing out an empty box and coming back with a full one? If you have a TV box with just junk inside to make it heavy on your way to US, will they open it to confirm what's inside?

Though the CDN dollar is strong right now at par. Buying from the US has its negatives.

Biggest concern is no warranty at all. Smuggling it in even by putting it in a used/old box is a BIG NO-NO. Customs are not idiots. They will know. There's taxes on the full value and tariffs that will ahve to be paid on top for electronics which can kill a deal.

New Hampshire has no state sales tax, but most of the ones near the Canadian border do.
