I wouldn't consider that a high claim at all. I hit a duck on the highway and cracked up my bumper, it cost over $4000.

We had someone change lanes into our vehicle another time, and that was over $7000. It barely did any damage.

As far as I'm aware, unless you are responsible/claiming for the accident your insurance shouldn't be impacted.

OEM bumper costs $1000 these days. Have it painted and installed, looking at another $1000. Damaged to lights and one fender, you are at $4000.

If bumper damage don't bother you, good way to negotiate for $ off. Personally, I don't like cars that was in an accident.

My wife was in a fender bender last year in our 2013 Corolla. She cracked one corner of the bumper and broke one of the headlight brackets. The claim ended up ~$3k.

That said, I favour a clean Carfax, so I'd lean away from it unless the price was right. I don't trust auto body shops.

I'd ask seller for photos of the damage.

Here's another 2013 CT200h that had a front left collision with a $9K claim and still considered a minor damage for comparison!

Hybrids - the cost of that battery though is enough to scare me off.

What's the average life expectancy of them, or are there less expensive cell replacement options these days?

As mentioned a hybrid that old is looking for potential problems..

What would scare me more if it were my money is the lack of any detail about the accident and only one mention of any service work being done on the vehicle... I realize the person could have done the work themselves so it would not show up...

Why the lack of service records matter, is without them you are the mercy of the regional rep for any good will warranty extensions that might exist for the vehicle. Lexus probably does not have any but many other manufacturers do, but they only look after a vehicle if you can PROVE proper maintenance was done....

My car was damaged by someone changing lanes into me. It was only the front right corner bumper and headlight. $6500 to repair.

Basically a headlight, bumper, parking sensors, DRL, and various parts that attach to the bumper like the grille and chrome parts.

Honestly, if I bought all the stuff myself and got a shop to just paint it, the cost would be around $3000. These shops make a killing

Probably not. Insurance companies don't like putting on OEM parts on cars more than 1 year old. It's a battle they usually don't cave on.
