Shut-off valve cover lid

Long story short. My shut-off valve is now under a layer of asphalt. I need to cut a hole to get to it and then cover the hole. None of the big stores have any lids of any kind for this application. Found one supplier in BC but shipping is an arm and a leg. NEXT plumbing supplies don't carry them too.

Any ideas where I could pick on up around GTA?

Try Wolseley Waterworks, or Noble Trade

+1 for these.

Also, is this for your curb stop?

Most Cities and Towns will stock these parts somewhere, so you may just be able to buy it off them. We commonly get them off them in a pinch and tell them to charge us for it.

Sometimes you'll even get it 30% off list or at a contractor discount.

Also, if it's a curbstop should probably be consulting your municipality anyways.

isn't the existing lid still on the box (just under the asphalt).. expose it then lift it up to level with the driveway, using 2 pry bars... then back fill around it with a bag of cold patch..

never seen a lid on a water shut off however my old neighbour when he had his driveway done they got a black pvc plastic pipe and fit it over the water main shut off and when they paved his driveway they tripped down the plastic abs pipe flush with the pavement and the water main now sits inside this pipe because its lower than the driveway and it looks nice and clean, im sure you can put some kind of plug over it but you dont even have to, just use a hole saw and dril lthe ashfault and put a black plastic pipe around the water shutoff

all waterboxes have lids... if they didn't they would fill of debris or asphalt.. pop the lid to put a key down to shut off water... just an fyi, the waterbox is usually on property line..
edit.. all water boxes should have lids.....

that is the lid... curb box , shut off valve for the service.. its on the service which is tee'd off the main... the valve is way down under ground and the box gives access to it via a long key dropped down the tube under the curb box lid...

Op you don't need anything to cover that, just dig out the ashpalt and place a piece of 4" sewer pipe around it. If you cover it and you need it shut off in winter it can be a real bugger to get the cover off if it is frozen . The nut in the center is where the City curb key goes in to shut off the water to your property.

Was it recently paved? If so, have paver come back and fix it ASAP. Also, it's the City's property. Call them to have it adjusted and/or replaced. The City doesn't look kindly at contractors that pave over these things.

The picture I posted above does NOT look like a lid or cap, its the actual curb stop.

the one below that I am posting has a lid, i think older homes had it like this below:
