Key Points:
New Customers must open a No Fee Chequing Account between August 1, 2019 and October 31, 2019.
New Chequing Account customers can get the following bonus for completing activity 1 or activity 2, or both, by the deadline of 90 days of the opening of such Chequing Account.
Existing Chequing Account customers are eligible for the Offer by completing activity 1 or activity 2, or both, on any Chequing Account on which they are the primary account holder by the deadline of: December 31, 2019.
Activity 1: Get $125 - Set up an eligible payroll or pension direct deposit and receive two deposits that are $10 or more.
Activity 2: Get $75 - Set up and complete Automatic Bill Payments to two different recipients that are $4 or more, for at least two months.

Note: Simplii always does a hard credit check with Equifax when opening a new chequing account, even when you don't apply for overdraft protection. New customers opening a chequing account may want to apply for overdraft protection and a Personal Line of Credit at the same time to fully utilize the hard credit check.

†The Simplii FinancialTM up to $200 Cash Reward Offer (the “Offer”) is available between August 1, 2019 and October 31, 2019 to qualifying primary account holders of a new Simplii FinancialTM No Fee Chequing Account (“Chequing Account”) and between August 1, 2019 and December 31, 2019 to qualifying primary account holders of an existing Chequing Account. Qualifying Chequing Accounts meet the all of the applicable terms and conditions below.

1. Offer
Qualifying customers will receive one $125 cash reward for completing activity 1 below and one $75 cash reward for completing activity 2 below, for up to a total cash reward of $200.
Activity 1: Add Payroll or Pension Direct Deposit
Set up a recurring payroll or pension direct deposit for the first time and receive at least two payroll or pension direct deposits of at least $10 to the same Chequing Account by the applicable deadline in section 2 below.
Customers who received a payroll or pension direct deposit during July 2019 or received a cash reward for setting up a payroll or pension direct deposit to any Simplii Financial account after November 1, 2017 are not eligible for the cash reward for completing activity 1.
Activity 2: Add Automatic Bill Payments
Set up recurring automatic bill payment transactions to at least two recipients and complete at least two eligible automatic bill payment transactions of at least $4 from the same Chequing Account to each recipient by the applicable deadline in section 2 below.
Eligible automatic bill payment transactions include utility bills; monthly payments on credit lines, loans, mortgages, and credit cards; rent or lease payments; membership fees; property tax; income tax; entertainment streaming subscription fees; and childcare fees.
Customers who completed an automatic bill payment transaction from any Simplii Financial account during July 2019 or received a cash reward for completing an automatic bill payment transaction after November 1, 2017 are not eligible for the cash reward for completing activity 2.

2. Eligibility
New Chequing Account customers are eligible for the Offer by opening a Chequing Account, as the primary account holder, on or before October 31, 2019 and completing activity 1 or activity 2, or both, by the deadline of: 90 days of the opening of such Chequing Account.
New customers are customers who did not have, or were not the primary account holder of, a Chequing Account prior to or as of July 31, 2019.
Existing Chequing Account customers are eligible for the Offer by completing activity 1 or activity 2, or both, on any Chequing Account on which they are the primary account holder by the deadline of: December 31, 2019.
Existing customers are only the primary account holder of a Chequing Account opened prior to April 1, 2019 which remained open and in good standing as of July 31, 2019.

3. Deposit of Cash Reward
The applicable cash reward amount will be deposited into the Chequing Account of qualify new customers in the fourth month following the opening of the Chequing Account, only if the account is active and in good standing at that time. For example, qualifying new customers who opened their Chequing Account in August 2019 would receive the applicable cash reward in December 2019.
The applicable cash reward amount will be deposited into the Chequing Account of qualifying existing customers in January 2020, only if the account is active and in good standing at that time.
If the qualifying customer has more than one Chequing Account that is active and in good standing at the time the cash reward is to be deposited, the cash reward will be paid into the Chequing Account with the most recent transaction date, regardless of whether any of the Chequing Accounts are joint accounts.

4. Additional Limitations and Qualifications
The Offer is open only to Canadian residents who have reached the age of majority, is non-transferable and cannot be combined with any other offers on Simplii Financial chequing accounts. Limit of one cash reward per customer per qualifying activity above. The recipient of the cash reward is solely responsible for any tax consequences associated with their receipt thereof.
The Offer is subject to the terms and conditions of the Products and Services Agreement. Other terms and conditions for the Simplii Financial No Fee Chequing Account may apply; ask for details.
Simplii Financial reserves the right to cancel or change the terms of the Offer at any time, for any reason, and to revoke the Offer for any customer who appears to be manipulating or abusing the Offer, or is engaged in any suspicious/fraudulent activity.

Going to quote my own post from the most recent Simplii promo thread - if you skip to the last pages of that thread there's tons of new people who have experienced the same. This "free $200" is going to cost you hours and frustration.

Called in and had the lady put a note on my account (I'm an existing customer since PCF days), she confirmed I was eligible.

Interesting thing about this promo (that I pointed out and she confirmed), there's no actual explicit time duration to fulfill the activities. You only need to have 2x payroll deposits (most people are paid biweekly so this takes ~1 month), + 2x PAP to 2 separate bills, pulled automatically from your account (so just set up a daily recurring transaction for a CC payment, for example).

Let's see what happens, money doesn't get deposited until January 2020 so... who knows. :rolleyes:

Several of their promos i did but they screwed up and had to call to get the money. The last time they told me you never were eligible but we are doing this as goodwill... bs
Also what counts as bill payments seems to vary depending on who you talk to.

Simplii is BS. I signed up a year ago for an account and never got my welcome package in the mail.

I saw this same promo to get free $200 or something a few months back and decided to try again to open an account. I do it online and don't hear back from them. So I call in and speak to a rep and they apparently don't have my file in their system so I have to do the whole process again on the phone. IDK what happened to my online sign up info, Lady said I will get a welcome package in the mail. To this day I'm still waiting for the welcome package. I'm so pissed with Simplii that I don't even want to try again.

Yup, discovered this myself. I have never received a bonus of any type from Simplii, but I already have my payroll set up so I am not eligible for the $125. Almost makes me want to switch payroll to EQ or something so maybe in a couple years I'll be eligible for payroll deposit bonus again lol.

I opened my account in the PCF days - Nov 1, 2017 was the day PCF banking became Simplii Financial.

To my knowledge I never received anything because they had no banking promos I was ever eligible for since I had an account already.

Didn't you need to just do one of the two things before (deposit two payrols OR do two recurring payments) to get the $200 before?

Yes. The promo that just ended on July 31 required either a payroll deposit for 2 months OR 2 different PAD withdrawals for 2 months. Previous thread here.

I called BMO to ask them how can I submit Simplii's Automatic Bill Payment Request form to them for paying my credit card bill and the CS rep told me BMO doesn't do that. Then I called Simplii, the CS rep told me the same--credit card bills, phone bills, loans would be paid by adding the companies as a bill payee on my Simplii bank account. What's confusing is that although I pointed out that I would therefore be making manual bill payments rather than "automatic", they would count for the promotion.

I believe by "automatic" in this case, Simplii means "scheduled" bill payments. I've created two $10 CC payments and set them to occur monthly until I get the bonus and then I will cancel the scheduled payments.

The BMO CSR should have informed you that a pre-authorized payment can be setup by from their website. Pre-authorized payments will be withdrawn from your bank account monthly on the day your Credit Card payment is due. To set up a pre-authorized payment, fill out the information in the online form and select Verify Request. Please ensure that the currency of the Account to Debit is the same as the Credit Card selected.

I'm not sure I trust the Simplii CSR advice for the sake of this promotion. You can setup automatic bill payments from Simplii but most people setup pre-authorized payments from an external source.

How did you set them to occur monthly? When I access my Simplii account online and go to "Pay Bills" I can schedule the bill payment but there's no option for recurring payments.

The BMO CSR I spoke with was an ass. I tried to explain to him the form and that I was looking for pre-authorized debit transactions from my bank account to pay my credit card bill and he kept aggressively telling me "we don't do that".

The option after "date" is "how often" -- once/every week/every 2 weeks/once a month/etc.
